One of the Boys (band)

One of the Boys is a four piece rock band from the North Side of Dublin, Ireland. The members are Paul Archbold - vocals/guitar, Michael Mc.Manus - vocals/piano/keyboard, Ian Thorp - drums, and Robbie Dyland - bass. The band was formed in 2008 by Paul Archbold and Michael Mc.Manus as an acoustic two piece. After two years of writing songs and rehearsing, Ian Thorp joined the band as full time drummer in September 2010. During this time the bands sound began to fill out.

Local producer and now record executive Martin Eastwood took over as the band's manager in October 2010, after a request from the band. From then on, activity in the band became more persistent and frequent in development and exposure. One of the first major changes Martin made with the band was bringing in bass player Robbie Dyland in early December 2010. This completed the formation of the band.

In early 2011, after just weeks of rehearsals One of the Boys began gigging as a four piece in Dublin and beyond. They played in the well known Dublin music venue Crawdaddy on Feb 26th 2011, they won the Finglas semi-finals of the IYMA's (Irish Youth Music Awards)in April, and accordingly went on to represent Finglas in the IYMA's in Liberty Hall, Dublin on May 15th 2011. Following all this, One of the Boys took to the road and headed for Portlaoise where they supported Irish act James O'Connor with Audrey Trainer in Kavanaghs bar and venue.

The band signed their first record deal in July 2011 with Catching Art Records. Following this, they almost immediately hit the studio and began recording. They then released their first single 'Gone' on the 9th of September 2011. The single reached a peak position of 22 in the Irish Rock Chart and made 2 chart appearances, in Ireland and in the Rock genre charts within 24 hours of it's release.

As of October 2011, the band are still touring and promoting their single through radio appearances, performances in stores and gigging around the Irish Republic. Following the success of the single, the band are expected to release an E.P or album with Catching Art Records in early to mid 2012.
