Sugar Inc. is a privately owned media company founded in April 2006 and headquartered in San Francisco. The company has created a network of lifestyle and entertainment blogs geared towards women, with each weblog focusing on one particular subject, such as fashion, beauty, humor, technology, food, fitness and advice.

History

PopSugar was created in March 2005 by Lisa and Brian Sugar to satisfy Lisa’s obsession with celebrities and fashion. The site is credited with running some of the first photos of Renée Zellweger’s surprise marriage to Kenny Chesney[1].

Sugar Publishing began adding blogs to the network in April 2006 and later that year received Series A Funding from Sequoia Capital[2]. Brian Sugar currently serves as the company’s CEO and Publisher, while Lisa Sugar is the company’s Editor-in-Chief. As of September 2008, the company reported 8.5 million unique users each month.
