Ochla [ˈɔxla] (formerly German Ochelhermsdorf) is a village in the administrative district of Gmina Zielona Góra, within Zielona Góra County, Lubusz Voivodeship, in western Poland.[1] It lies approximately 8 km (5 mi) south of Zielona Góra.

The village has a population of 1,544.

History

Ochla exists since 13th century and it came into being at the edge of the forest. Both Polish and the common German name which used to function among the inhabitants of Ochla testify to it, "Lednicza" (Old Polish: "clearing") and "Romisdorf" (there was a couple of variants of the name), respectively.

Historic Buildings

  • Holy Trinitity's parish church [2] - gothic from XIII century. Built of field stone and turfy ore.
  • Palace from 13th century.
  • Manor house from 17th century.
  • On the eastern part of the village there is a railway station of the non-existent any more railway of Szprotawa.

There is a football club in Ochla: LKS Zorza Ochla
