Nujoom islands

Nujoom Island (meaning "Island of floating stars") is a real estate development project financed by Nujoom Islands Company and its strategic partners. The project is developed by Saudi based Al Hanoo Holding Company while Tamweel will provide the brokerage services^[1]. Once completed, the community will host 1400 villas, 40 residential and commercial buildings, 6 hotels and 2 resorts. It has been built on reclaimed land on the North East Coast of Sharjah and spreads over an area of 60 million square feet.^[2] Cost of the development is estimated to be AED 18 billion and the whole project is expected to be completed in 2013.

Construction

Construction work was divided into three phases. First phase is completed with the digging and dredging work being done. Second phase will see construction of roads, pavements, bridges, and other infrastructure, while the construction of hotels, shopping malls, villas and towers will be carried out in the third and final phase^[3].

Features

Bridges will connect the 10 islands separated by huge water channels. The project includes 40 high-rise towers, 145 apartment buildings, 1,400 water-front and park-side villas, large commercial center and two entertainment centers. Nujoom Islands will be having several mosques, schools, banks, stores, coffee shops and restaurants, providing accommodation for over 40,000 residents^[4].
