NouvEON (officially NouvEON Technology Partners) is an employee-owned Management Consulting and Information Technology Consulting firm. NouvEON offers strategic- and project-based management consulting services to improve business performance for their clients. Headquartered in Charlotte, North Carolina, NouvEON also has offices in Raleigh, North Carolina and professional consultants in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; Baltimore, Maryland; Minneapolis, Minnesota; and Houston, TX.

History

Formation & Early Years

NouvEON was founded in February 2003 in Charlotte, North Carolina by former "Big Four" consulting firm and information technology executives T.J. Eberle and Jeff Hobensack, both lifelong friends. The vision was to combine the services large consultancies offer with a smaller business model to create a unique company. In July 2011, hiSoft acquired NouvEON. 7 Mile Advisors advised hiSoft on the transaction.

NouvEON began as a local and regional consulting firm offering three broad services: strategic management solutions, e-solutions, and contract and placement solutions. Over the years, NouvEON has refined its business model, resulting in the firm dropping its staff augmentation services altogether. [1]

In 2008, NouvEON opened a second office in Raleigh, North Carolina. [2]

Recent History

In the last several years, NouvEON has experienced a high level of growth and national attention. From 2003 to 2009, NouvEON remained a relatively small firm, ending 2009 with just 22 billable consultants. However, in 2010, NouvEON tripled in size (22 billable consultants to 77) and doubled in revenue ($7M to $14M).[3]

This growth has led to numerous awards, both nationally and locally. Nationally, NouvEON has made Inc. (magazine)'s Inc. 5000 list of the nation's fastest growing private companies for three consecutive years (2008, 2009, 2010). NouvEON was most recently ranked #1,663 in 2010. In addition, the Entrex Private Company Index (PCI) has awarded NouvEON with a Top Ten Growth Company Award for 10 of the past 12 quarters including being the only company to be a Top Ten Growth Company for each quarter of 2010. Locally, the Charlotte Business Journal has ranked NouvEON on its Fast 50 Awards for Charlotte's fastest growing private companies, with NouvEON being the only back-to-back winner from 2009.[4]

Most recently, NouvEON was named one of Consulting Magazine's Seven Small Jewels for 2011. The Seven Small Jewels awards recognize the most innovative and fastest growing consulting firms with under 250 employees. [3]

InCentric Acquisition

In August 2010, NouvEON announced that is had acquired InCentric Solutions LLC, an integrated information technology solutions provider based in Raleigh, North Carolina. The acquisition served to further expand NouvEON's national footprint and key industry penetration, along with providing deeper systems integration expertise and a new hardware and software business line. The acquisition also served to further expand NouvEON's penetration into the greater Raleigh market. 7 Mile Advisors served as M&A advisor to NouvEON on the transaction. [5]

In 2009, under the leadership of T.J. Eberle, NouvEON made a fundamental change to its organization. The firm transitioned from one P&L for the overall enterprise to practices that were individual P&Ls.[1] NouvEON currently operates in five practices:

BVO Model

NouvEON developed their Business Value Optimization (BVO) to identify what primary dimensions affect business value. NouvEON's BVO Model strives to balance strategy and execution. In order to balance these, NouvEON consultants look carefully at the relationships between people, process, and technology.

In developing this BVO Model, NouvEON identified five primary dimensions, referred to as knowledge domains. NouvEON's services are broken down across these five knowledge domains. They include:

Visual Identity

Although the firm's corporate name is NouvEON Technology Partners, Inc., it is branded simply as NouvEON. The name is derived from a combination of the French word "nouveau," meaning new, and "eon," the largest division of time. NouvEON capitalizes EON in its name as a reference to the firm's employee-owned network, which means that every employee owns a portion of the firm.

Staff

NouvEON was named to Consulting Magazine’s Best Small Firms to Work For in 2008: 96% morale rate (average: 88%), 0.6 travel days (average: 1.6 days), 78% positive impact on clients (average: 59%), and met client needs 72% of the time (average: 60%). The majority of its consultants come from the “Big 5” consulting firms such as PricewaterhouseCoopers, IBM, and Accenture.

According to the company's president and CEO, T.J. Eberle, the strength of the firm's success is attributed to its competitive recruiting process.[6] The company hires within NouvEON's employee-owned network to reduce risk for clients.[7]
