Fictional group history

The three Norns (Urd, Skuld, and Verandi) oversee the destinies of the Asgardians. Thor, Valkyrie, Balder, and others have consulted the Norns' wisdom.[volume & issue needed] Thor once consulted them to learn how he could wield Mjolnir, he learnt he would first have to face 'Death', it was revealed this meant the Death-goddess Hela.[1] During the Siege of Asgard, the Norns confront Daken of the Dark Avengers, wanting him to bring about Ragnarok.[volume & issue needed]

The Norns may be the same three beings as the Fates of the Olympian Gods. The Fates first appeared in Tales to Astonish #33 (Jul 1962). Thor actually calls them the Fates once.[2]
