Biography

Her long and rich research, which began soon after obtaining a degree in Political Science at the University of Rome in 1933. She dealt with all demographic issues, with great attention to deep the intersections with biological and social demography. She founded the Journal Genus, directed from 1966 to 1994. She strongly supported the demographic studies in Italy, after the crisis followed to racial laws in the years of Second World War. During her long teaching career, she could banish (1961) the first chair of demography at the Italian University. She has grown around her generations of students to whom she taught in scientific rigor and freedom of thought. Nora Federici's commitment went beyond University.
