Joseph Mark Trohman was born September 1, 1984 and is the lead/rhythm guitarist of the Chicago-based band Fall Out Boy.

Early life

Joseph Trohman (known as "Trohmania" to his fans), was born on September 1, 1984 in Hollywood, Florida to a Jewish family. He grew up in South Russell, which is east of Cleveland, Ohio, and moved just outside of Chicago when he was around 12 years old. He attended Washburne Junior High and New Trier Township High School in Winnetka, Illinois. He was friends with Peter Wentz, and introduced him to Patrick Stump, who he met in a Borders book store in Chicago. Joe is credited as the one who started Fall Out Boy.

Appearances

Joe Trohman made an appearance on MTV's Cribs along with his younger brother, Sam Trohman, who was wearing a Canadian tuxedo while grilling a fake lemon in the infamous episode under the alias Clyde Phillips. Also during the episode he displayed a bathing towel on which the members of his band, Fall Out Boy, faces replaced those of the original characters of the movie Star Wars. He had shown MTV what the tour bus looked like during the Honda Civic Tour. Joe has also appeared (with the other members of Fall Out Boy) on the Tonight Show, the Late Show with David Letterman, the Jimmy Kimmel Show, One Tree Hill, Late night with Conan O'Brien, Saturday Night Live, the Today Show, the Ellen Degeneres Show, Regis and Kelly, MTV's Total Request Live and Punk'd.

Career

In 2001, Trohman formed the band Fall Out Boy along with close friend Pete Wentz. Each had been active in the Chicago hardcore scene and Joe had filled in as a bassist during a tour with Wentz' band "Arma Angelus". Joe met Patrick Stump in a Borders Bookstore, [cite web |title=Joe Trohman |work=TV.com |date=September 19 2006 |url=http://www.tv.com/joe-trohman/person/412087/biography.html |accessdate = 2008-02-04] and after bonding over a mutual interest in the band Neurosis, he convinced Stump to audition for the band.cite web |last=Stump |first=Patrick |title=Patrick Stump's Journal |work=GreatestCities.com (Cached version) |url=http://64.233.169.104/search?q=cache:MdcS9zYvylIJ:www.greatestcities.com/users/xpatrickx/ |accessdate = 2007-08-03] . Two other Chicago musicians were recruited; T.J. Raccine on guitar and a drummer simply credited as Mike. These two only participated for a very short time. The subsequent addition of drummer Andy Hurley completed the current quartet.

Equipment

Trohman has used many guitars during his career. In the "Take This To Your Grave" days, he was seen using the Gibson Les Paul guitars. During "From Under The Cork Tree", Joe mainly used Fender Telecasters. Currently, Joe Trohman is endorsed by Washburn Guitars, with whom he has his own custom shop models. As seen during the American Grammys, Joe used guitars based on the Infinity On High graphics. His main guitar now is his own Washburn signature model. His backups are sometimes stock Pilsens and stock Idol 66PROs.
