List of The Nostalgia Critic episodes

The Nostalgia Critic is a Web review series hosted by Doug Walker. The series began in July 2007 on YouTube, but after having a large amount of his episodes removed from YouTube, those, along with new ones, started appearing in April 2008 on thatguywiththeglasses.com and have been airing there ever since. Most episodes center on movies that were poorly received by critics. Not all of his reviews are negative, as he sometimes positively reviews some films, TV shows and top 11 countdowns.

Season 1 (2008)

The character of the Nostalgia Critic and the format of the series developed over the initial episodes. The Critic is uncharacteristically hyper in the first episode as compared to later episodes. This became the springboard for the character Chester A. Bum (also played by Walker) and the Bum Reviews (using additional elements from episode nine). The Bum speed talks through movies. The Critic is first seen sitting in his chair in the second episode. This episode is also the first time he wields his gun and in which his "Hello, I'm the Nostalgia Critic. I remember it so you don't have to." catchphrase is first used. The character's appearance is defined in the fourth episode. Episode seven features the first "Top 11" list along with the catchphrase "Why Top 11? Because I like to go one step beyond."

The Critic reviews Twister (1996). Before the review, he pointed out that he gave credit to the wrong source of the collection of videos in the "Mindf*cks" episode and addressed the correct one. In the review, the Critic criticizes the main characters (mainly dueto constant arguing) and the film's scientific inaccuracy, but enjoys the effects. Special criticism is reserved for a scene where several characters are all shown listening to different pieces of music, all at once.
53 "The Garbage Pail Kids Movie" 25:05 March 10, 2009 (2009-03-10)
The Critic reviews The Garbage Pail Kids Movie (1987). He lambastes the film for having no plot or story, terrible characters, unfunny and disgusting humour, and poorly designed puppets. The episode ends with a parody of 2001: A Space Odyssey, where the film's horridness rips through time and space. He calls it the worst film he has ever reviewed, and sums it up as "pure evil".
54 "Rock-a-Doodle" 18:48 March 17, 2009 (2009-03-17)
The Critic reviews Rock-a-Doodle (1991). He marks this as the start of Don Bluth's decline in animated films, even though he says the movie is not especially bad. He criticizes the very strange plot, annoying characters (especially the voice acting for Edmund) and frequent songs. He also makes a point of mentioning a particularly vexing plot hole in the film, when the sun rises once without the main character, Chanticleer crowing. And then it refuses to rise again after that, because he no longer crows.
55 "Titanic: The Animated Movie" 21:25 March 24, 2009 (2009-03-24)
The Critic reviews Titanic: The Legend Goes On (2001). Among the poor quality and taste of the film, he criticizes the historical inaccuracies, nonsensical characters (especially the rapping dog), and how it blatantly rips off the blockbuster film, Titanic. He stated that the creator of the film "probably saw the James Cameron movie and didn't realize it was based on a true event; he probably just thought it was a fairy tale."
56 "The Pagemaster" 20:00 March 31, 2009 (2009-03-31)

57 "Moonwalker" 20:22 April 7, 2009 (2009-04-07)

The Critic reviews Moonwalker (1988). Note: This review came out two months before the death of Michael Jackson

65 "Sidekicks" 24:35 June 16, 2009 (2009-06-16)

His main complaint is that the vast majority of the film is a self-indulgent plug for the director's brother Chuck Norris, criticizing his and Jonathan Brandis' performances, the bizarre plot, similarities to The Karate Kid, mean-spirited characters, and poor choreography of the action scenes. He also tries not to criticize the performance of Mako (Due to the backlash he received for doing so in his TMNT review), but it gets increasingly hard as the review progresses.
66 "Gargoyles" 15:38 June 23, 2009 (2009-06-23)

The Critic reviews Steel (1997). He criticizes the wooden acting of Shaquille O'Neal and bad dialogue, and considers Steel as the "worst superhero ever". 73 "Captain N: The Game Master" 17:42 August 4, 2009 (2009-08-04)
The Critic reviews Captain N: The Game Master (1989–1991). He finds the animation sloppy, and the show's characters to be irritating, undeveloped and barely resembling their video game designs. He especially shows a strong distaste for the butchering of Simon Belmont's character, who comes off as wimpy and foppish.
74 "We're Back! A Dinosaur's Story" 20:28 August 11, 2009 (2009-08-11)
In the guise of "Raoul Puke," the Critic reviews We're Back! A Dinosaur's Story (1993). Special criticism is reserved for a scene where a member of the Nazi Party shouts "Heil, Hitler!" in mid-sentence and shoots someone immediately after.

The Critic counts down mistakes he has made in previous episodes:

11. Not understanding the reason why the African-American actor and Asian actress left from the cast of Power Rangers.

The Critic, Spoony and Linkara review Alone in the Dark (2005). Doug had lost his voice, and speaks through "Speakonia", a text-to-speech program. They criticize Uwe Boll's direction, the actors' horrible performances, plot holes, nonsensical story, and bearing no resemblance to the video game on which it was based.
79 "Blank Check" 19:58 September 15, 2009 (2009-09-15)
The Critic reviews Blank Check (1994). He criticizes the film for taking an idea with a lot of potential and developing it into something that already occurred in several other films during the '90s, with a ridiculous plot, poor performances, an emphasis on materialism, and complete lack of humor. Special criticism is reserved for the relationship between the child hero and adult heroine.

Special criticism is reserved for a scene where Hogan helps a kid to play the arcade game After Burner and yet tries to pass it off as if it were a game about space aliens and UFOs, despite it clearly being seen to be After Burner
83 "The Next Karate Kid" 20:57 October 13, 2009 (2009-10-13)
The Critic reviews The Next Karate Kid (1994). He criticizes the film as a cash-in on the success of the first three films (also notice that the fourth film is so bad it never got its own dvd release and instead was on a double feature with the cheap rehash sequel The Karate Kid, Part III which he also hates), with mean spirited characters, an over-exaggeration of school security, a weak script, and a confusing moral.
84 "Casper" 24:29 October 20, 2009 (2009-10-20)
The Critic reviews Casper (1995). He criticizes the lame puns, pointless cameos, illogical nature of the plot, and nearly excessive use of vulgar language, despite being considered a family movie. But admits that the filmmakers at least "tried" to put effort in it. It finishes with the Critic chasing an evil Casper, who had been annoying him during the review, throughout a GMX convention in Tennessee while dressed as a Ghostbuster
85 "Superman IV" 22:16 October 27, 2009 (2009-10-27)
The Critic reviews Superman IV: The Quest for Peace (1987), collaborating with Linkara (who initially tries to impersonate the Critic, resulting in him being punished by having to stay and watch the film as well). He pokes fun at Tim Curry's Romanian accent in the film, criticizes the special effects for being silly (especially with the ape costumes), the storyline for being laughable, and points out that the only good parts of this film are Bruce Campbell, Ernie Hudson and the laser gun.
87 "A Tribute to Siskel and Ebert" 14:35 November 10, 2009 (2009-11-10)
The Critic pays tribute to two of the most loved television film critics: Gene Siskel and Roger Ebert. He also discusses the show after Siskel's unfortunate death, the Richard Roeper era, claims that the two Bens were "douchebags", and the show as it is now with Michael Phillips and A. O. Scott is slightly better, but still not the same.
88 "Judge Dredd" 20:13 November 17, 2009 (2009-11-17)
The Critic reviews Judge Dredd (1995). He criticizes the film for being over-the-top and finds Rob Schneider annoying, as well as expressing confusion about how apparently no character can pronounce the word "Law", but admits that the film has a certain comedic value and is a guilty pleasure.
89 "Tank Girl" 19:02 November 24, 2009 (2009-11-24)
The Critic reviews Tank Girl (1995). He finds the characters annoying and criticizes the incoherent plot. He points out that some shots of the "Tank Girl" comic are used to replace some of the live-action shots, and assumes that the lack of money to finance the film is the reason.
90 "Jack Frost" 18:04 December 1, 2009 (2009-12-01)
To start off the holiday season, the Critic decides to review bad holiday-related movies. He begins by reviewing Jack Frost (1998), praising the film's looks and cinematography, and criticizing the lack of sense and creativity, snowman special effects, poor dialogue, and underdeveloped characters.

The Critic reviews The Star Wars Holiday Special (1978), despite his efforts to escape. He criticizes the focus on the Wookiee family, the Star Wars cast only appearing in cameos, excessive filler, and the animation from the cartoon segments, but he does praise Bea Arthur's performance. He has his memory of the movie erased by Santa Christ, played by Doug Walker's brother, Rob, as well as destroying the movie and curring the critic's diabeties (Which the Critic did not even know he had).
94 "Ernest Saves Christmas" 21:31 December 29, 2009 (2009-12-29)

The Critic criticizes Ernest Saves Christmas (1988) for, like the other Ernest P. Worrell movies, silly humor and not making much sense, though he admits that he watches it every year, loves Douglas Seale's performance of Santa and considers it a guilty pleasure.

Note: During the review, the Critic made a comment about Autism that he later found to be inappropriate and removed. This is currently the only joke ever removed from the show because Walker thought it was low and unfair.

Season 3 (2010)

The first month of the 2010 episodes was dubbed Schwarzenegger Month during which the Critic exclusively reviewed Arnold Schwarzenegger films. This was followed by a special 100th Episode, in which he reviewed the infamous Battlefield Earth.

In July, he reviewed The Room, but the review was taken down by the film's distributor Wiseau-Films for copyright infringement, to which he posted a response in a skit titled "The Tommy Wiseau Show", that mocks Wiseau for taking down the review. The review was eventually posted back on the site on December 2010.

96 "Junior" 18:51 January 12, 2010 (2010-01-12)

99 "End of Days" 20:19 January 26, 2010 (2010-01-26)
The Critic reviews End of Days (1999). He criticizes the plethora of plot holes, lackluster action, lack of horror, over-the-top science, far-fetched mathematical clues, and considers that the premise of Schwarzenegger fighting Satan had more potential.
100 "Battlefield Earth"
"The 100th Episode"
25:59 February 2, 2010 (2010-02-02)

The Critic reviews Battlefield Earth (2000) for his 100th episode, and heavily criticizes the plot, characters, constant use of angled camera shots and curtain wipes, John Travolta's over-the-top goofy acting, and overall stupidity. He is repeatedly interrupted by Terl, Travolta's character from the film, portrayed by fellow TGWTG member Noah "Spoony" Antwiler.

  • Note: In the commentary for the episode, Doug had revealed that he and his brother Rob had both really wanted to play the part of Terl, but Doug decided that Spoony should play him because of his hilarious use of the villain voice he gave one of his characters.
101 "Bébé's Kids" 19:57 February 9, 2010 (2010-02-09)
The Critic reviews Bébé's Kids (1992). He criticizes the pointless moments, ignoring its own plot, constant rap music that seems too improvised, and Robin Harris being portrayed as a poor father figure. He also is annoyed that actor Tone Loc keeps appearing in his reviews, after playing the singing goanna in Ferngully: The Last Rainforest, Lieutenant Spence in Surf Ninjas, Juice in Blank Check and now, the baby, Pee Wee in this film.
102 "Lost In Space" 23:07 February 16, 2010 (2010-02-16)

He criticizes the dull acting of William Hurt and Matt LeBlanc, the squeaky-voiced acting of Lacey Chabert, the bad script, the horrible comedic timing, and is surprised that no one seems to realize that Gary Oldman's character is a villain.

The Critic reviews Quest for Camelot (1998). He criticizes the film for lacking any true connection to the Arthurian Legend, the horrendous songs, the bad jokes, and constant ripping-off of Disney. Special criticism is reserved for the endless plotholes, at one point causing him to literally explode with anger.
105 "Old Vs. New: The Nutty Professor" 17:20 March 9, 2010 (2010-03-09)

The Critic reviews Bio-Dome (1996). He widely criticizes Pauly Shore and Stephen Baldwin's horrid performances, unfunny gags, dislikes Joey Lauren Adams and is shocked at how a good plot idea like this was so horribly executed. He ends by shooting the DVD in anger.
107 "The Neverending Story II: The Next Chapter" 19:25 March 23, 2010 (2010-03-23)
The Critic reviews The NeverEnding Story II: The Next Chapter (1990). He criticizes the plot for being a heartless and dumbed-down rehash of the first movie, which is one of his favorite family films. Special criticism is reserved for Jonathan Brandis' portrayal of Bastian, as he is baffled at the character's unwillingness to use his power of infinite wishes, especially when he wishes for a spray-can rather than an actual weapon.
108 "Top 11 Most Awkward Christopher Walken Moments" 22:46 March 30, 2010 (2010-03-30)

109 "Flubber" 17:26 April 6, 2010 (2010-04-06)
The Critic reviews Flubber (1997). He criticizes the overuse of slapstick, plotholes and creepy subplot of a robot being attracted to its creator. He was also critical of Robin Williams' portrayal as a neglective fiance; special criticism is reserved for the ending, as the Williams character misses his wedding a fourth time, but the Marcia Gay Harden character marries him anyway.
110 "Home Alone 3" 14:52 April 13, 2010 (2010-04-13)
The Critic reviews Home Alone 3 (1997). He finds the film having nothing to do with Home Alone, despite bearing the title and part of the theme, with unfunny gags, a poor script and a completely different cast of very stupid characters. He is also shocked about how corporate espionage got enravelled with the Home Alone series. Special criticism is reserved for the parents repeatedly leaving the main protagonist unattended in the house throughout the movie. also special criticism for the late director/writer John Hough who went out of his way to make unfunny, unoriginal, uninspired scripts for slaptick comedies.

The Critic reviews Drop Dead Fred (1991). He criticizes Rik Mayall's obnoxious performance, as well as the absurd plot and unfunny jokes, and feeling that Phoebe Cates, along with everyone else in the movie, is completely insane. He also believes that the film was originally supposed to be a horror film, and emphasizes this by playing the theme to The Omen over several disturbing scenes.
113 "The Care Bears Movie" 17:41 May 11, 2010 (2010-05-11)
The Critic reviews The Care Bears Movie (1985). He does find that, in general, the film is harmless for young audiences, but complains about heavy-handed cuteness, blatant advertising of the toy line, the song sequences, and some plotholes. He does compliment the villains of the film, stating that they pose a surprisingly genuine threat.
114 "Jaws 3D" 16:30 May 25, 2010 (2010-05-25)

115 "Free Willy" 14:42 June 1, 2010 (2010-06-01)
The Critic reviews Free Willy (1993). While he does not view the film as terrible, he considers it a rehash of previous movies of a boy bonding with an animal, with hammy acting, cliched villain and some very annoying plot elements.
116 "A Troll in Central Park" 21:12 June 8, 2010 (2010-06-08)
The Critic reviews A Troll in Central Park (1994). The video starts with him pacing in anger, infuriated at how bad the film is. In the review, he considers the film as the worst by Don Bluth, criticizing the characters, huge amount of filler and pandering, lack of lessons worth learning, and the ending. Special criticism is reserved for the major theme that dreams come true just by dreaming, which he considers both a terrible lesson for kids and thoroughly insulting to the audience's intelligence.
117 "Theodore Rex" 19:32 June 15, 2010 (2010-06-15)

In the spirit of the Fourth of July, the Critic reviews Independence Day (1996). He criticizes the lame cliches, unoriginality, plotholes, stereotypical characters, and predictable outcomes. However, he praises the explosions, special effects and Will Smith's performance. Special criticism is reserved for the humans' idea of using an older model spaceship to infiltrate the mothership, especially due to the fact that none of the aliens seem to notice that it's an older model,
121 "The Room" 28:07 July 13, 2010 (2010-07-13)
The Critic reviews The Room (2003). He considers it so bad that "it kinda has to be seen to be believed" citing the awful acting, out-of-sequence editing, unbelievable characters, horrid dialogue, and repetitiveness. Special criticism is reserved for a scene where Johnny buys flowers for his girlfriend, in which the Critic is so confused by the scene that he replays it and points out all the flaws in the scene (Such as the fact that the flower shop worker says that she did not recognize Johnny, despite the fact that he was easily recognizable even if he was wearing sunglasses, and how Johnny said, "That's me" with nothing the worker says giving him reason to say that)

128 "Chairman of the Board" 13:22 September 7, 2010 (2010-09-07)
The Critic reviews Chairman of the Board (1998). He finds the movie unfunny, with weird cinematography, ripping-off the plot from the Flintstones movie, predictable jokes, and the constant appearance and disappearance of Raquel Welch. He feels that the only redeemable factor of the film is Larry Miller's performance.

The Critic lists the biggest mistakes that he has made in his videos since his last "F*ck-Ups" video:

10. Mistaking a Gregorian-era dress for a Victorian-era dress in Superman IV: The Quest for Peace.
9. Not understanding why Mr. Freeze did not cure his wife in Batman & Robin.

4. Not realizing that Quest for Camelot did explain some things throughout.

2. His arithmetic mistake (saying 9+9+9=21 when it is actually 27) in the End of Days review.

1. Making a joke about Autism in Ernest Saves Christmas. (He made the joke as a gamble, and did not think that it was funny from the start, so he removed it from the video).
130 "Pound Puppies and the Legend of Big Paw" 19:12 September 21, 2010 (2010-09-21)
The Critic reviews Pound Puppies and the Legend of Big Paw (1988). He comments that the movie has little to nothing to do with the toy line or the TV series on which it is based, and that the film itself is a total mess, with boring and poorly developed characters, a weak script, even weaker animation, and dreadful musical numbers.
131 "The Pebble and the Penguin" 17:45 September 28, 2010 (2010-09-28)
The Critic reviews The Pebble and the Penguin (1995). He comments that it is the least bad of Don Bluth's worst films, praising the voice acting and animation and saying that the oddities almost work, but is bothered by the character designs, amount of musical numbers and general inaccuracies.
132 "Ernest Scared Stupid" 22:51 October 5, 2010 (2010-10-05)
The Critic reviews Ernest Scared Stupid (1991). He says that it is by far the weakest of the theatrically released Ernest films, being neither funny nor scary, and generally predictable.

He criticizes the plotholes, melodrama, characters who are cruel for no reason, overuse of flashbacks, and all the stereotypes and cliches done in each of Stephen King's stories (which he mocks by playing a drinking game about them), but praises the acting of the children and Tim Curry. However, he questions why others find Curry's performance so frightening, due to his silly nature as well as never harming the main characters despite having numerous chances to do so.
135 "Leprechaun" 20:07 October 26, 2010 (2010-10-26)
The Critic reviews Leprechaun (1993) with the Cinema Snob. They discuss how unrealistic it is to find a leprechaun scary, the silly plot and unbelievably bad performances from Jennifer Aniston and others.

He criticizes the use of inner-monologues, inconsistent animation, bland songs, and finds the character of the princess too obvious. Special criticism is reserved for the main character's sudden change in skin tone later in the film from pale white to normal color. At the end he goes on to recommend the "Re-Cobbled Cut" of the film instead.
140 "Waterworld" 22:33 November 30, 2010 (2010-11-30)
The Critic reviews Waterworld (1995). He considers it an average but enjoyable film that is not as bad as its reputation goes, applauding Dennis Hopper's performance, the action scenes and attention to detail in showing how contraptions in the film work (or as he calls it, "stuff"). However, he complains about Kevin Costner's acting, Tina Majorino's character Enola and some plotholes.

He considers the film a poor attempt for Rodney Dangerfield to write a children's film, and complains about Rover's character, the clumsy plot, and the constant use of bad jokes and one-liners. Special criticism is reserved for the musical numbers, and a rather dark scene where Rover tries to hide the fact that he killed a turkey by using his corpse as a puppet.

# Title Length Release date
144 "The Neverending Story III" 27:54 January 4, 2011 (2011-01-04)
The Critic reviews The NeverEnding Story III: Return to Fantasia (1994). He finds it even worse than its predecessor, citing its dumbed-down plot and characters, particularly the Rockbiter and Falkor. He also hates how the villains are reduced to schoolyard bullies, but enjoys Jack Black's performance. Special criticism is reserved for a scene where the Rockbiter sings a rendition of Born to Be Wild, and is outraged when it replaces the beloved theme song composed by Limahl
145 "Ferngully 2" 19:19 January 11, 2011 (2011-01-11)
The Critic reviews FernGully 2: The Magical Rescue (1998), this time without assistance from the Nostalgia Chick. Though he likes the premise of exploring the temptations of the human world, he is not impressed by the weak story, sloppy animation and underdeveloped characters, but considers it a harmless (albeit pointless) film.
146 "The Secret of NIMH 2" 22:01 January 18, 2011 (2011-01-18)
The Critic reviews The Secret of NIMH 2: Timmy to the Rescue (1998). He criticizes how the film centers on a background character while ignoring Mrs. Brisby, and also contains inferior animation, and the main character, Timmy, getting praise before he actually knows what to do, which seemingly turns out to be a self-fulfilling prophecy. Special criticism is reserved for an idiotic plot twist in which Timmy's brother, Martin, turns into a mad scientist and betrays him; ironically, he compliments Eric Idle's voicework, who plays the corrupt version of Martin, while Phillip Glasser plays his normal form.
147 "Care Bears II" 25:20 January 25, 2011 (2011-01-25)
The Critic reviews Care Bears Movie II: A New Generation (1986). He concludes that the first film is actually decent compared to the sequel, criticizing the lack of character development and consistency of events, particularly the retconning of the characters' already-established origins.

The Critic reviews Dungeons & Dragons (2000). He criticizes the film for its cartoonish plot, confusing ending, constant rising shots, and poor acting (particularly that of Jeremy Irons, Thora Birch and Marlon Wayans). However, he finds the movie enjoyable due to being so badly executed.

He feels that the story is forced, finds plotholes related to the original film and considers the characters annoying and incompetent. He also mocks Jeff Goldblum's acting, with help from his brother Rob. Special criticism is reserved for a scene where a character distracts a velociraptor by shouting "Hey, you!" And the raptor actually turns to look upon hearing this.
151 "Return of the Nostalgic Commercials" 28:46 February 22, 2011 (2011-02-22)
The Critic looks at more commercials. In particular, he comments on hotlines aimed at children, creepy-looking advertising techniques, toys and games that seem to promote cruelty, and suggestive-sounding product names.
152 "Inspector Gadget" 24:21 March 1, 2011 (2011-03-01)
The Critic reviews Inspector Gadget (1999). He considers the movie "desperate", criticizing how the film bears little resemblance to the cartoon, overuse of comedy, along with its bad acting, poor editing, wierd scene transitions, unnecessary sound effects, and terrible fourth wall jokes. Special criticism is used for the portrayal of Dr. Claw, and for the endless credit cookies which show how desperate the movie is to get a laugh.
153 "Old Vs. New: The Karate Kid" 21:39 March 8, 2011 (2011-03-08)

The Critic compares the 1984 and 2010 "Karate Kid" films:

Despite crediting the film's acting and suspense, he criticizes the plot holes, poor CGI, over-the-top performances (particularly of Bronson Pinchot), clichés, and Dean Stockwell's Shatner-like performance. Special criticism is reserved for the appearance of the titular monsters, which he calls a letdown.
155 "Airborne" 23:38 March 22, 2011 (2011-03-22)
The Critic reviews Airborne (1993). He criticizes the film's blandness, the performance of the main characters (especially the femistic behavior of Seth Green's character) and over-usage of clichés that cause it to resemble several commercial advertisements of the '90s.
156 "Baby Geniuses" 19:00 March 29, 2011 (2011-03-29)
The Critic reviews Baby Geniuses (1999). This review was filmed on location at Animarithon and is narrated in the style of the 2008 film Max Payne. Acting as though he is unable to review anymore, he criticizes the ridiculous plot, wide angle shots, recurring jokes, acting, lip synching of the babies, and the premise that babies are born with intelligence but lose it as they grow older, which he finds completely stupid. Special criticism is reserved for the special effects, particularly the animatronic costumes which he finds nightmarish
157 "Raiders of the Story Arc: X-Men" 19:00 April 5, 2011 (2011-04-05)
The Critic reviews the first two episodes of the X-Men animated series. Despite some silly moments, he praises the action, characters and how the first two episodes deliver backstory and premise, and ultimately considers the show to hold up.
158 "The Magic Voyage" 18:56 April 12, 2011 (2011-04-12)
The Critic reviews The Magic Voyage (1994). He criticizes the animation, characters, overabundance of dialogue, the fairy-tale plot, and dubbing, particularly of Dom DeLuise as Christopher Columbus. Special criticism is used for a scene where Columbus appears to extend a spyglass out of his groin.
159 "Double Team" 19:38 April 19, 2011 (2011-04-19)
The Critic reviews Double Team (1997). He criticizes the bizarre idea of a team-up between Jean-Claude Van Damme and Dennis Rodman, overused cliches, basketball puns, Van Damme's acting, lack of screen time for Rodman, and some plot holes. However, he praises some of the action scenes and the ending, where Mickey Rourke's character dies, calling it the "BEST DEATH EVAH!".

161 "Jaws: The Revenge" 17:46 May 3, 2011 (2011-05-03)
The Critic reviews Jaws: The Revenge (1987). He considers the film the worst entry of the Jaws films, and criticizes the crazy plot, uninteresting characters, several mistakes (such as blood appearing in the water before the shark attacks one of his victims, and the shark roaring), Jaws looking fake (but not as fake from the third movie), and large amounts of filler. Special criticism is reserved for the shark's lack of a genuine "revenge" scheme.
162 "Gordy" 21:08 May 10, 2011 (2011-05-10)
The Critic reviews Gordy (1995). He criticizes the lack of dialogue and screentime for Gordy the piglet and his family, the ridiculous plot, some awkward moments, and is baffled that this film was released before Babe. In the end, he points out that the only "good" part of the film (DVD content) is the rap song "Pig Power in the House" by Tag Team, as well as the music video.
163 "The OTHER Animated Titanic" 24:26 May 17, 2011 (2011-05-17)

The Critic reviews The Legend of the Titanic (1999). He considers this film worse than the previously reviewed 2001 rip-off. While stating that the animation is better, he calls it "disgustingly insulting" for turning the shipwreck into a parable about whaling, stating that everyone survived the sinking, and containing numerous absurdities (such as the humans being able to talk to animals).

Note: During the end credits, the Critic posts he will not review the sequel.
164 "Revenge of the Commercials" 22:37 May 24, 2011 (2011-05-24)
This is the Critic's third nostalgic commercial compilation. Generally, he comments on advertising techniques that appear false, nonsensical or confusing. Special criticism is used for the "Slim Suit" and a seemingly "cocktease" ad for the JDRF featuring Mary Tyler Moore
165 "Once Upon a Forest" 20:31 May 31, 2011 (2011-05-31)
The Critic reviews Once Upon a Forest (1993). He criticizes the stupid and predictable environmentally-themed plot, and the over-the-top performance of Michael Crawford (along with his questionable musical talent). He does give the film credit for taking a few more risks, such as showing that humans are not entirely destructive, and acknowledges that it is not the worst of its kind.
166 "Little Nemo: Adventures in Slumberland" 22:44 June 7, 2011 (2011-06-07)
The Critic reviews Little Nemo: Adventures in Slumberland (1989). While he lends high praise to the animation, he criticizes the confusing plot, poorly-developed characters (particularly the annoying, boring and stupid main character), and clichéd fantasy environment of Slumberland. Special criticism is used for the film's tendency to break the story's flow with Nemo's numerous false awakenings.
167 "Old Vs. New: True Grit" 17:32 June 14, 2011 (2011-06-14)

The Critic compares the 1969 and 2010 True Grit films:

Best Mattie: 2010 Version (Hailee Steinfeld)
Best Cogburn: 2010 Version (Jeff Bridges)
Best Supporting Cast: 2010 Version
Best Villains: 1969 Version
Best Story: 2010 Version

The 2010 version wins over the 1969 version, 4-1, although the Critic does not believe that this score represents his opinion well.
168 "Transformers 3" 6:51 July 5, 2011 (2011-07-05)
As with past reviews of the series, The Critic starts to review Transformers: Dark of the Moon (2011) in the same hyperactive way he did in his reviews of the first two films. However, while doing this, he suddenly gets sued by Chester A. Bum for stealing his style. A court (led by General Zod) allows Chester to do the review (as well as any future 'jump cut' reviews).
169 "Milk Money" 20:03 July 12, 2011 (2011-07-12)
The Critic reviews Milk Money (1994). He considers the film "sick" and hellbound for taking a sleazy premise and trying to make it family friendly, with a dreadful plot, painful dialogue, terrible acting, inappropriate overtones, annoying screenwriting cliches, and many awkward moments. He is especially outraged by the scene where one of the main characters brings in V (Melanie Griffith) for an oral report in school, pointing out five fatal flaws with the scene such as him not getting punished for it.
170 "Rad" 19:19 July 19, 2011 (2011-07-19)
The Critic reviews Rad (1986). He criticizes the poorly-developed plot, uninteresting characters, highly repetitive biking stunts, and abrupt ending. The only factor he lends praise to is the fairly realistic bike crashes. Special criticism is reserved for the unconvincing romance between the main protagonist Bill Allen and Lori Loughlin

172 "Care Bears Adventure in Wonderland" 21:45 August 2, 2011 (2011-08-02)
The Critic reviews The Care Bears Adventure in Wonderland (1987). He considers it the most forgettable of the three films, criticizing the weak plot, dumb (and seemingly nameless) characters, and apparent insult to the Lewis Carroll book. Special criticism is reserved for the running gag involving Grumpy Bear having missed breakfast and its payoff, and the Critic again mentions the wizard's scary face at the end of his song (even using it as an example for a screamer).
173 "Cop and a Half" 19:26 August 9, 2011 (2011-08-09)
The Critic reviews Cop and a Half (1993). He criticizes Burt Reynolds's character and acting, the annoying young child star, ridiculous cliches, laughable villains and how incompetent the police force is shown to be.

7. Two-Face
6. Over the Edge
5. Perchance to Dream
4. Heart of Ice
3. Trial
2. Baby-Doll
1. Almost Got 'Im
175 "Alaska" 19:35 August 23, 2011 (2011-08-23)
The Critic reviews Alaska (1996). While admitting that the film's scenery looks nice, he comments on the unlikeable characters, lack of interaction between them, dull and predictable plot, and spinning establishing shots of Alaska, saying the film does not encourage people to visit the state. Special criticism is reserved for a scene where a rescue chopper misses the missing father's clearly visible plane three times, as well as a disturbing scene when the villans toy with a young polar bear using the mother's skinned body and head.
176 "James and the Giant Peach" 22:29 September 13, 2011 (2011-09-13)
After the outraged reaction to his "Let's Play" of Bart's Nightmare, the Critic is forced to attempt a positive review of James and the Giant Peach (1996), despite disliking the film (and is forced to change several negative comments at gunpoint). While praising the creativity, sets and animation, he criticizes the musical numbers, plot holes and story elements that go nowhere. Special criticism is reserved for the side plot about the rhino that kills James' parents, especially how poorly it's explained.
177 "The Avengers" 19:17 September 20, 2011 (2011-09-20)
The Critic reviews The Avengers (1998). He criticizes the absence of people in the background, the ineptitude of the spy agency, as well their odd choices of names and the overly polite dialogue. Special criticism is reserved for an unexplained scene in which the main villain and his henchmen dress as giant teddy bears in a meeting.
178 "Simon Sez" 27:14 September 27, 2011 (2011-09-27)
The Critic reviews Simon Sez (1999) with Obscurus Lupa. While they admit that the film can be funny, the action scenes are decent and Dennis Rodman is an average actor, they criticize the stupid plot and annoying characters (particularly that of Dane Cook).
179 "The Tommyknockers" 25:33 October 4, 2011 (2011-10-04)
The Critic reviews Tommyknockers (1993) as part of the month's "Nostalgia-Ween". While pointing out the usual Stephen King cliches of the miniseries (addressed in It and The Langoliers), he praises the buildup and over-the-top performances, and sums it up as "fascinating". His most common complaint is the character Joe, who disrespects his wife while having an affair.
180 "The Haunting" 30:36 October 11, 2011 (2011-10-11)
The Critic reviews The Haunting (1999). He considers it to be one of the worst remakes of all time from its original version, if not "the" worst, criticizing the ridiculous plot, lack of subtlety in the characters, Owen Wilson's character pointing out the obvious, laughable special effects, lack of actual scares, and elements that thoroughly insult the original (such as including a line from the original without any of the context or buildup). He does, however, enjoy the scenes with Catherine Zeta-Jones, especially due to her playing a lesbian in the movie.
181 "Book of Shadows: Blair Witch 2" 26:00 October 18, 2011 (2011-10-18)
The Critic reviews Book of Shadows: Blair Witch 2 (2000). He considers it to be a horrendous sequel to an otherwise interesting film, criticizing the plot holes, characters (especially the Wiccan, Erika), editing, overacting, pointless scenes, unexplained elements and twist ending. Special criticism is reserved for the title, as the film barely has anything to do with the original film and the "Book of Shadows" in the title is never even mentioned at all.
182 "Exorcist 2: The Heretic" 23:07 October 25, 2011 (2011-10-25)
The Critic reviews Exorcist II: The Heretic (1977). While not considering it the worst sequel he has ever had to review, he still considers it weak, criticizing the plot holes, lack of story and over usage of locusts and bright lights.
183 "Doug's 1st Movie" 21:39 November 1, 2011 (2011-11-01)
The Critic reviews Doug's 1st Movie (1999). Already disliking the actual cartoon, he criticizes it as an episode of the show that is too long, disliking the bland unfunny characters, stupid moments, the title (which he says is incredibly pompous) and weird plot points. Despite hating the series along with the movie, he was surprised (and pleased) that they changed the theme song and feels sorry for the robot, the only likable character, who gets heavily damaged by armed security, and also finding the scene with Mr. Dink's virtual reality machine to be somewhat funny.
184 "The Cell" 26:43 November 8, 2011 (2011-11-08)
The Critic reviews The Cell (2000). While admitting that some visuals are impressive, he criticizes the film's extremely nonsensical and confusing nature, Vincent D'Onofrio's lack of character development (along with Vince Vaughn's lackluster detective, almost always leaving his mouth open) and essentially labels it as an overly serious exploitation film.
185 "Raiders of the Story Arc: Superman The Animated Series" 19:01 November 15, 2011 (2011-11-15)
The Critic reviews the first three episodes of Superman: The Animated Series. He considers the show to hold up, praising the acting and action along with the origin story, but considers it rushed.

  • A review of Newsies was replaced with Rocky IV since the Nostalgia Chick expressed interest in reviewing it.[1]
  • An Old vs. New of War of the Worlds was planned,[2] but as the Critic explains in "Next Top 11 NC F*ck-ups", he found both the 1953 film and the 2005 film underwhelming while re-watching them, and pulled the plug on the episode.
  • Drop Zone was replaced by Ernest Scared Stupid because the Critic decided to spend the whole month of October 2010 reviewing horror films. It is currently unknown if he'll ever review it.[1]
  • Doug Walker has stated in his "Top 10 Movies That I Hate But Everybody Else Loves" that he intended to do a review of Matilda (1996), but had cancelled it due to angered feedback from audiences.
