Mount Hayward

Mount Hayward (78°7′S 167°21′E / 78.117°S 167.35°E / -78.117; 167.35) is a hill 2 nautical miles (3.7 km) southwest of Mount Heine on White Island, in the Ross Archipelago. Named by the New Zealand Geological Survey Antarctic Expedition (NZGSAE) (1958–59) for V. Hayward, a British member of Shackleton's Imperial Trans-Antarctic Expedition (1914–17), who lost his life in a blizzard on May 8, 1916 when he walked off the sea ice in McMurdo Sound. Victor Hayward was born on the 23 October 1887 in Manor Park Road, Harlesden, North London.
