Modern Asian Studies is a bi-monthly journal in the field of Asian studies, published by Cambridge University Press.

The journal was founded in 1967 by the Syndics of the University of Cambridge and the Committee of Directors of the Institute or Centres of Asian Studies in the Universities of London, Cambridge, Hull, Leeds and Sheffield. Modern Asian Studies now publishes approximately 40 original research articles a year on the history, sociology, economics and culture of modern Asia, covering South Asia, South-East Asia, China, Japan and Korea. The book reviews section offers detailed analysis of important new publications in the field. The Journal is currently edited by Joya Chatterji of the University of Cambridge, UK.

Index

In 2009 the journal achieved an impact factor of 0.506 in the Thompson ISI citation index. It is ranked 18/38 in the Area Studies category, which covers a wide variety of regions from Africa to Latin America and the Middle East.
