Shimoura A. Stegall (born August 7, 1974)in Atlanta, Georgia[1] is popularly known as Mo Stegall. Stegall originally given the name Moe from the vaudeville and comedy act of the early to mid-20th century Three Stooges character Moe Howard is a Philanthropist, Empowerment Speaker, Best Selling Author, and Media Personality. He is perhaps best known for his work alongside acclaimed actor and best selling author Hill Harper on UNCF HBCU Empower Me Tour and as Youth Empowerment Ambassador for The National Urban League

Philanthropy

He is the founder and president of the I Can BE Foundation a 501c3 organization dedicated to educating people, encouraging change, and empowering communities and undeserved youth to succeed. The philosophy of the organization is to provide young men and women with nurturing support systems, tools, resources and guidance through mentoring, scholarship and enrichment programs.

Perhaps one of his strongest philanthropic work is being an HIV/AIDS activist. Mo Stegall, was compelled to share his personal testimony regarding his experience with the disease and the impact it has on his life. He lost his mother to AIDS in 2000 after she was infected intentionally by her boyfriend. Stegall has assisted in world missions with Samaritans Feet conducted various HIV/AIDS testing with national organizations such as AID Atlanta[2]

"My mother instilled in me a long time ago the importance of helping people," recalls Atlanta native Stegall, whose mother died of an AIDS-related complication within seven months of her diagnosis. "My mother passed away in 2000. She contracted [AIDS] from a long-term boyfriend who knew he was infected but did not inform her. For a number of years, she had some complications and wasn't sure why. One day she was dehydrated and was rushed to the hospital. She found out she was infected in September 1999 and passed away in April 2000."

He's Motivated to be a positive example for others, he wanted to prove what greatness can come from those raised in similar situations. He says “I’m motivated by my destiny and individuals like Les Brown, Diddy, Fonzworth Bentley and my family. Growing up in the housing projects and having experienced all that I have, I wanted others to know that the beginning didn’t have to become the ending.”Associated Content

Empowerment Speaker

Stegall has traveled all over the United States as a motivational speaker and has shared his life stories of accomplishments and his ability to overcome. In the Summer of 2009, he had the opportunity to host the UNCF Empower Me Tour. The tour visited HBCUs all around the country such as Howard , Hampton and Dillard University. The tour was utilized to bring awareness and education to students and people in the community. It’s purpose was to empower those to become active architects of their own destinies and covered topics such as financial literacy.

He is considered one of the nation's leading authorities on empowerment and is sincerely committed to encouraging and equipping audiences to revolutionize their destiny. His deepest passion and desire is personal growth and development and to sanction others to achieve greatness. He has appeared in and on UPN, NBC, CBS, WTVI, BET, Radio Disney, Upscale Magazine, Jet, Entertainment Weekly, Atlanta Journal Constitution, The Atlanta Voice and Rolling Out Magazine.

In 2010 Stegall released his first book an empowerment guide entitled Against All Odds I Can Be 10 Steps To Revolutionize Your Destiny.[3]

Media Personality

In front of the camera Mo Stegall engages viewers with his comical wit and personable approach. He has appeared on both local and national commercials, infomercials, and television broadcasts. As a child, he dreamed of being a sports commentator and imagined himself playing Nintendo and Sega video games in front of large crowds.

His vision to connect with people through media became a reality when, in 2002, he launched his own talk and entertainment show entitled The S.E.L.F Show for teens and young adults described as "Oprah and Jerry Springer meet 106 & Park." Stegall hosted the show for five years and used it to address a multitude of issues, ranging from homelessness and teen prostitution to relationships, as well as showcasing up-and-coming talent.[5]

Now as Executive Producer, the show has been coined The Voice for Youth and at its height was viewed in more than 30 countries around the world. Stegall would leave the S.E.L.F Show as its regular host and go on to host his own syndicated radio talk show entitled Talk About It Today! With Mo Stegall.

Stegall’s daily show “Talk About It Today with Mo Stegall” is a premier radio show that focuses on a motivating message with relevant content to enlighten, inform, inspire individuals and communities globally. The show’s mission is to ignite audiences to transform from simply BEING to BECOMING. Stegall’s hosting style focuses on an ”intimate tenor” with guests that have included LisaRaye, Lamann Rucker of Tyler Perry's Meet the Browns, Dwight Eubanks of Bravo Network Real Housewives of Atlanta, Hill Harper and others. The show features a diverse range of topics including “Social Etiquette”, “Home Ownership” , “The Rules of Dating” and “Pursuing Your Dreams”.

Stegall has enjoyed a successful career as a radio and television personality, which afforded him opportunities to work with the BET Hip-Hop Awards the CMA Awards, and countless recognizable entertainers and community leaders. But his deepest passion and desire is personal growth and development and to empower others to achieve greatness. And with a warm and captivating presence, he has integrated his television/radio career with his desire to serve.
