The Icelandic Ministry for the Environment (Icelandic: Umhverfisráðuneytið) is a cabinet-level ministry founded in 1990. It is responsible for a wide-range of measures designed to protect nature in Iceland, such as planning and building affairs, conservation, pollution control, fire prevention, meteorology and cartography. The minister now is Svandís Svavarsdóttir.
Since 2009-02-01 the minister has been Kolbrún Halldórsdóttir of the Left-Green Movement.[1]
