Michael V. "Mike" Nelson (born June 2, 1954) is a Minnesota politician and a member of the Minnesota House of Representatives representing District 46A, which includes portions of the city of Brooklyn Park in Hennepin County, which is part of the Twin Cities metropolitan area. A Democrat, he is a carpenter by profession.[1]

Nelson was first elected in 2002, and has been re-elected every two years since then. He is currently a member of the House's State and Local Government Operations Reform, Technology and Elections Committee and Ways and Means Committee. He chairs the State and Local Government Operations Reform, Technology and Elections Subcommittee for the Local Government Division, and also serves on the Commerce and Labor Subcommittee for the Labor and Consumer Protection Division and the Finance Subcommittee for the Transportation Finance and Policy Division.[2] He was an assistant majority leader during the 2007-2008 biennium.[1]

Nelson attended Hennepin Technical College in Brooklyn Park for Carpentry in 1974. In addition to his work as a carpenter, he is a trades business agent for the Lakes and Plains Regional Council of Carpenters and Joiners.[1][3]
