MRSC- Media Research and Study Center is the association of Journalists and academicians who teach or research in Higher Education in Media Studies. This includes practice-based work as well as more academic disciplines. The Media Research and Study Center (MRSC) is based in India's commercial & media capital MUMBAI.

This concentration of 'The Media Research and Study Center' (MRSC) includes the study of the skills, critical training methods and TV News industry required practicing theories necessary for effective entry of Journalism students into the highly competitive field of TV Journalism.

'The Media Research and Study Center' (MRSC) seeks to further journalistic study within higher education and to serve an academic resource for Journalism students, scholars, Journalism faculties, Mid-level and senior Journalists. 'The Media Research and Study Center' (MRSC) has vision to maintain productive relationships with journalism students and practicing journalists in the areas of media study.

Course Details

The Media Research and Study Center (MRSC) has launched following two specialized courses in TV Journalism in Mumbai (India).

i) Post Graduate Diploma in TV Journalism

Eligibility: Graduation

Duration: One year (300 hours)

ii) Certificate Course in TV Journalism

Eligibility: 10+2

Duration: Six Months (150 hours)

Location

The South Indian Education Society (SIES)

The courses will be conducted in India's one of the most reputed education institute SIES College.

The South Indian Education Society (SIES) is one of the oldest education societies in Mumbai and was pioneered in 1932. What started with a strength of six students has now become a conglomerate of various institutions with over 18,000 students under its wing. SIES has established a high school, n array of arts, science and commerce colleges, along with academic and professional institutions of higher learning.

The patrons of The South Indian Education Society (SIES) are Former President of India & Bharat Ratna Dr. A P J Abdul Kalam, Dr. R Chidambaram who is the principle scientific advisor to the Indian Prime Minister and Dr. K Kasturiranjan, Former Chairman of ISRO.

'The Media Research and Study Center' (MRSC) is an education arm of 'Support India Foundation' an NGO. MRSC is involved in the activities like supporting, developing promoting and representing the interests of Journalism students and potential journalists. It also provides a professional bridge for Journalism students with senior journalists.

'The Media Research and Study Center' (MRSC) is active in advising research and further studies relevant to journalism by collecting some of journalism's best ideas, strategies and techniques to help journalism students.

Facilities

Every student is trained on industry standard equipments, backed up by every possible support facility. 'The Media Research and Study Center' (MRSC) has following infrastructure and facilities.

1. Fully air-conditioned class room, lab, editing bay and Studio.

2. Class room equipped with screen and projector for audio-visual demonstrations.

3. A state of art studio for Anchoring, News Reading, Panel Discussion.

4. Video library.

5. A state of art lab with video editing, voice over, sound recording, graphics learning facility.

6. Equipments like Video camera, different types of mikes and lights for audio-visual training to the students.

7. Specially produced text and audio-visual material related to TV Journalism.

8. Field trips and Mock press conferences to enhance and brush skills with reality.

9. Excursions with top TV Journalism channels.

'The Media Research and Study Center' (MRSC) regularly invites all Journalism students, researchers, teachers and journalists to explore their mission of promoting the highest possible standards for journalism students in an effort to achieve better professional practice.

The Core Team

The members of the core team of 'The Media Research and Study Center' (MRSC) are as following:

Sanjay Singh

A respected TV Journalist with an experience of more than 15 years. Singh has been credited as tha man who exposed the 'Telgi Fake Stamp Scam'. He had also authored Telgi Scam - Reporter Ki Diary the only written document on the Telgi Scam. He was honored with The International Press Institute Award by the President of India. He has held a number of senior positions in leading news channels like NDTV, TIMES NOW, IBN7, NEWS X and Zee News in the past. He is also doing his PhD in "TV Journalism & rural society" from University of Mumbai.

Jyoti Shahpurkar

Jyoti is a senior TV Journalist and a teacher, who began her career in journalism in 1995. She has held a number of senior positions in leading news channels like NDTV, Asian News International (ANI) Reuter, Times News Channels, SAHARA. She was also Team Director of CINEMA VISION INDIA. A Masters Diploma in Journalism and Mass Communications from Symbiosis Institute of Management and a Law Graduate, Jyoti is a visiting faculty at SIES College SION, SYMBIOSIS INSTITUTE PUNE, CIIT MEDIA PUNE, MIIT PUNE.

Randhir Kamble

Randhir is an old hand at journalism with great editorial experience. He is also one of the strongest voices of Regional & Political TV Journalism. He has held senior positions of Dy. News Editor with Ibn Lokmat, Principal Correspondent with Zee News & E-TV and was Feature Editor with Unique Features. A Master in Communication & Journalism from Pune University, Randhir has been associated with lot of social and literary movements.

Rahul Maheshwari

He is among the first generation of TV Journalists. In a career spanning 15 years Rahul has reported on issues ranging from civic matter to business to politics of Maharashtra, Gujarat & Goa. He has worked in leading channels like IBN, TIMES NOW, NEWS X. Along with reporting he has also worked on desk and gained valuable insight into the working of news organizations. His interest is in the field of research of socio-economic issues.
