Mağara (former Mara or Kırobası) is a village in Silifke district of Mersin Province, Turkey. It is situated in Toros Mountains. At 36°43′N 33°52′E / 36.717°N 33.867°E / 36.717; 33.867 it is about 45 kilometres (28 mi) to Silifke and 125 kilometres (78 mi) to Mersin. The population of village is 233 [1] as of 2010. But it was a more populous settlement in the Middle Ages. The Greeks who made a part of the population were deported to Greece during the compulsory population exchange between Greece and Turkey (Turkish: mübadele) in 1920s. Modern day Mağara is known for annual commemoration day for Marshal Fevzi Çakmak.
