Matthew Worthy

Matthew Worthy is a British television Producer. He co-created the entertainment formats Secret Fortune and Take The Money and Run as part of a creative partnership with Kieran Doherty, while working for UK independent production company Wild Rover Productions.

Career

Worthy began his career at Granada Entertainment working as a researcher on Stars in Their Eyes, You've Been Framed and Celebrities Under Pressure. While working for Granada Kids on the show Jungle Run in 2005 – Worthy devised the show Scratch and Sniff's Den of Doom for CiTV.[1]

He joined Wild Rover Productions in 2006 to create the BBC One interactive quiz Get Smarter in a Week – and went on to consult on the international versions.[2] Worthy currently works in a creative partnership with Kieran Doherty at Wild Rover. Together they have created several international TV formats.[3] Worthy was the Producer of the first two series of Secret Fortune for BBC One.[4]

Secret Fortune

In 2008 Worthy and Doherty created the high-stakes quiz-show Secret Fortune.[5]

In 2010 the UK network broadcaster BBC commissioned a nine part series of Secret Fortune for Saturday night BBC One. This series was broadcast in February 2011 – with viewing figures reaching over 7 million.[6] A second series was commissioned after just four episodes – and was filmed in May/June 2011.[7] Both series were Produced by Worthy.

In 2011 US network broadcaster CBS commissioned a pilot of Secret Fortune – co-produced by Wild Rover Productions and Nigel Lythgoe, who is an Executive Producer of American Idol.[8]

Take the Money and Run

In 2007 Worthy and Doherty created the high stakes reality show Take the Money and Run.[9] A pilot was commissioned in by UK network broadcaster BBC in 2008.

In 2010 it was announced that Take the Money and Run received a six-episode order for show production by ABC with Jerry Bruckheimer as executive producer along with Amazing Race creators Bertram van Munster and Elise Doganieri.[10] This series will be broadcast in August 2011.[11]

Find Me The Funny

In 2008 Worthy and Doherty created the stand-up reality competition Find Me The Funny. A six part series was broadcast by BBC One NI in 2009.[12]

The David Meade Project

In 2010 Worthy and Doherty created The David Meade Project, a four part series featuring mentalist David Meade for BBC NI.[3] It aired in January 2011.[13] A second series of six episodes was commissioned by BBC NI in 2011 and will air in Autumn 2011.
