Matsui is the brand name of a line of electrical items sold in the UK, introduced in the 1980s. It is an own brand of the Dixons Retail plc retailer, and not an independent manufacturer. The vast majority of Matsui products are manufactured in China.

The company is based in the UK. The Japanese-sounding name is a genuine surname in Japan, often spelled 松井. During the 1980s, some Matsui televisions were rebranded Ferguson sets made in the UK by Thorn-EMI or, later, Thomson Electronics.[citation needed] Since Dixons and Currys are owned by the Dixons Retail Group, some Matsui products are identical to items using DSG's Saisho and Logik brands. Some Matsui products are now also being rebranded to Currys Essentials'. Matsui is currently being phased out as part of a push to simplify the amount of own brands dixons carrys.[citation needed]

Product Range

Currently there are many Matsui items on sale including LCD Televisions, Hobs and Ovens, [Radios], Vacuum Cleaners, Optical Media and MP3 players. In the UK the main store brand competitors are Comet's ProLine brand and Home Retail Group's Bush brand.
