Dustin McCarty (born October 12, 1988 in Winter Park, Florida) is an American soccer player currently playing for Los Angeles Galaxy in Major League Soccer.

Career

College and Amateur

McCarty was a member of the North Carolina team that reached the 2008 College Cup Final. McCarty began his college career at the University of Central Florida, earning Conference USA All-Freshman Team honors in 2007. He transferred to the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill before the start of the 2008 season and went on to appear in 60 games during his three years with the Tar Heels, scoring three goals and adding three assists.^[1]

During his college years, McCarty also played with the Ajax Orlando Prospects, the Central Florida Kraze and the Carolina Dynamo of the USL Premier Development League.^[2]

Professional

On January 18, 2011, McCarty was drafted in the third round (34th overall) in the 2011 MLS Supplemental Draft by Los Angeles Galaxy.^[3]

Personal

Dustin is the brother of New York Red Bulls and United States international soccer player Dax McCarty.^[4]
