History

Originally founded by Jim Nicademus and J.R. Johnson in March 2004, Diamond Plate was soon joined by Jon Macak on bass. It took the band about a year or so to get the chemistry working and the songs tight enough to start gigging. In the summer of 2005, armed with Metallica and Megadeth covers and a few originals they played their first shows. For about a year and a half the band continued playing shows, attempting to write and going through multiple guitarists and vocalists.

In 2006 Diamond Plate auditioned Konrad Kupiec to be their second lead guitarist in an attempt to thicken up the overall sound of the band, but he would eventually end up being the only guitarist for the direction that the band was taking. Jim saw Konrad at a Megadeth show and about a year before he watched a video of him on YouTube. Jim recognized him and immediately got in contact with Konrad to see if he wanted to play in Diamond Plate.[1] In March of 2007 J.R. Johnson left the band due to musical differences and later formed Atomize. With the new inclusion of Konrad handling guitar duties, Diamond Plate solidified their line-up and signature sound.

In January of 2008, the group delivered its debut EP, Mountains of Madness, five tracks of high-octane, no-nonsense thrash. A few months later, California based Stormspell Records reissued the EP with custom artwork by renowned artist Dimitar Nikolov as part of its ongoing "Thrash Clash" split release series, pairing Diamond Plate with Swedish thrash band Oppression. DIAMOND PLATE is a "three-piece high-energy act" which "encapsulates the spirit of the 'Big Four' and has already earned high honors from respected outlets such as Terrorizer magazine, who named DIAMOND PLATE as one of the best unsigned bands in the very year that the band first got together," according to a press release.

Currently in their late teens, guitarist Konrad Kupiec, drummer Jim Nicademus and vocalist/bassist Jon Macak have played with some of the world's biggest metal acts. They have also have earned a reputation as an absolutely raucous live act. Despite all of the great praise in high places, DIAMOND PLATE feels its fans are the most important key to its early success. As Kupiec puts it, "The BEST praise we can get is having a kid seeing us at one of our shows for the first time and then coming over to our merch table and buying a shirt or CD. It's the most humbling and coolest feeling in the world. I'll always be grateful for the support our fans give us."

Terrorizer Magazine named them the 5th best unsigned band for 2008.[2]

Diamond Plate was a part of Thrasho De Mayo IV at the Knitting Factory in Los Angeles, CA with Exumer, Merciless Death, Fueled by Fire, Bonded by Blood, Vindicator, Mortrum, Armored Assassin, Witchaven, Hexen and Dismantle [3]

On October 5, 2010, Diamond Plate inked a worldwide deal with Earache Records. The band's full-length debut will be released in 2011.
