Dhirendra Mehta, (Hindi: धीरेंद्र मेहता Gujarati: ધિરેન્દ્ર મેહતા born August 29, 1944 in Ahmedabad),^[1] full name Dhirendra Pritamlal Mehta,^[1] is a Gujarati novelist, poet, commentator and negotiator who won the 2010 Sahitya Akademi Award for Gujarati language for his novel Chhavni.^[1][2][3] Based in Bhuj,^[2] he did his BA degree in Gujarati in 1966.^[1] He did his Ph.D. in 1976. His dissertation was named "Gujarātī Navalakathānō Upēyalakṣī Abhyāsa".^[1] From 1970 to 1976, he taught Gujarati Literature in Gujarat College, Ahmedabad, and later in RR Lalan College.^[1]
