David Del Valle

David Del Valle is a journalist, columnist, film historian, radio and television commentator on the horror/science-fiction/cult and fantasy film genres.


Since leaving San Francisco State University in 1974, Del Valle has contributed to magazines internationally and has been interviewed by the BBC, A&E Network, Channel 4 (London) and The Sci-Fi Channel.[1] He appeared in It Conquered Hollywood! (2001), an American Movie Classics compilation of clips and documentary about American International Pictures.[2] He was also the writer and host of an interview with Vincent Price in 1988,[3] available on DVD from All Day Entertainment distributed through Image.

In addition to the Vincent Price interview, Del Valle produced and hosted a series of TV interviews entitled Sinister Image. His guests included actor Cameron Mitchell and director Russ Meyer. A compilation was released on home video as Cult People.[4]

On the Internet, Del Valle writes on film history with a column Camp David for FilmsInReview.com, America’s oldest film magazine{{http://www.nbrmp.org/)} now preserved in cyberspace until it returns to print format.

His print articles and interviews have appeared in such publications as Cinefantastique, Scarlet Street, Cult Movies, Fangoria, Films and Filming (Del Valle was American correspondent for this British magazine from 1983–1987), Video Watchdog, The Dark Side (UK), Fantastyka (France) and L’Ecran Fantastique (France) both of which he was the American correspondent.

David Del Valle most recently completed a year as a radio host in Palm Springs in an entertainment-oriented program working three hours of airtime on AM and the Internet. David has recently finished his book on Roger Corman's Edgar Allan Poe films with Professor Samuel Umland the result BURNING DOWN THE HOUSE will be available in 2011. Also completed his personal memoirs based somewhat on the past five years of autobiographical Camp David columns is also ready for publication under the title LOST HORIZONS. These memoirs comprise his 25 years as a Hollywood agent and correspondent observing the aspiring show business types whose dreams of stardom became their lost horizons.
