High school career

Washington attended Irving High School in Texas, where he was named All-District defensive player of the year after he totaled 168 tackles with four sacks as a senior. He was selected to play in the Texas-Oklahoma Oil Bowl All-Star Game.

College career

As a true freshman at TCU in 2006, Washington contributed at linebacker and on special teams. He recorded 16 tackles for the season (14 solo). In his sophomore year, he blocked a nation-best three punts, while also registering 32 tackles for the season (25 solo).

Although still primarily a back-up and special teams player, Washington was TCU's fourth-leading tackler with 63 stops in 2008. He started the 2008 Poinsettia Bowl and posted six tackles and three pass breakups in TCU's victory over Boise State. He will start at middle linebacker in 2009 and is expected to have a huge impact,[2] as he already earned a Pre-Season All-MWC First Team selection.[3]

By early November, Washington, alongside Jerry Hughes, established himself as one of the leaders TCU's defense, which is one of the best in the nation. He was named one of 12 semifinalists for the 2009 Butkus Award.[4]

Professional career

Washington was selected 47th overall by the Arizona Cardinals in the 2nd Round of the 2010 NFL Draft. When Daryl first came out of the draft some people thought Daryl would only be an average lineman at best because of his lack of size. But what he lacked in size he made up in speed, he even had the fastest Lineman 40 yard dash at the Combine. In 2010 Daryl Washington had 78 tackles,1 sack, 1 Forced fumble, and 1 Interception that he fumbled. [5]

After adding some weight In the 2011 Off season so far he's proven that he is a leader of the Cardinals defense.[6] November 13, 2011 Washington and the Arizona Cardinals were facing the Philadelphia Eagles. On the 2nd play of the game Washington blitzed from the left side of the line.Speedy Washington was unblocked and hit Eagles Quarterback Micheal Vick with his shoulder in the Mid-section just as the ball was released. Washington broke 2 of Micheal Vick's ribs which led to Vick completing just 47% of his passes and a Cardinals win. Washington also had 1 more sack that game. [7]
