Dance New Amsterdam

Dance New Amsterdam (DNA) is a contemporary dance venue in Lower Manhattan that has presented choreographers such as Zoe Scofield, Ivy Baldwin, Victoria Libertore, Mana Kawamura, Makiko Tamura, Ximena Garnica, Jennifer Nugent, Adrienne Westwood, and Jack Ferver. Many choreographers that present at Performance Space 122 also present at DNA. The Theater at Dance New Amsterdam is a 130-seat performance space with state-of-the-art light and sound systems.

History

Founded in 1984 in NoHo and originally known as Dance Space Center, DNA changed its name when it moved to 280 Broadway in February 2006. The state-of-the-art facilities include a professional 130-seat theater, six studios, a wellness program and a gallery/reception space. DNA was the first not-for-profit arts organization to move to Lower Manhattan after 9/11 and plays a critical role as a resource for the dance community, as well as a renewing force in downtown Manhattan’s cultural landscape.
