Dairy Barn

Dairy Barn

Dairy Barn is a chain of regional convenience stores located in Long Island, New York, with headquarters in East Northport.

The stores are distinguished by their drive-through feature and their red barn appearance with little red silo.

There are currently 42 stores on Long Island.

History

The origins of Dairy Barn traces back to the late 1930s. Edgar Cosman, a textile manufacturer, sent his son, Dieter to work in the family's parachute cord factory in New Bedford, Massachusetts. He was later stranded in New York because of World War II, and he purchased a dairy farm on Long Island. Later, he came up with the concept of a drive-through convenience store. The first Dairy Barn store opened in 1961.
