Arborlon is the capital city of the Elves. It is in the Westland. It is here in that the Elves mount their final defence against the demons of the forbidding in the Elfstones of Shannara. In the Elf Queen of Shannara it transpires that the Elves, in order to escape the Federation, used a magical device called the Loden to transport the entire city to a small island far out to sea

Since the siege of Arborlon is a pivotal point of the Elfstones of Shannara Brooks describes the city in detail. The city sits atop a large plateau called the Carolan, and its steep sides make a natural defence. The only access to the city is up a long causeway called the Elfitch. For these reasons the Elves believe their city to be an unassailable fortress. The city of Arborlon is present in nearly all of Brooks' Shannara series, including the prequel series, the Genesis of Shannara.

Baen Draw

Baen Draw was another location where the Elves attempted to slow the Demons.[2] This was the planned fall-back for when Halys Cut and Worl Run eventually fell. After it was suggested by Stee Jans, a new tactic of defending was successfully implemented here, allowing the Elves to hold the pass for a day.[2] The Demons then came again at midnight,[2] but once more the Elves threw them back after Allanon threw a powder into the air, allowing the Elves to see who was attacking them.[citation needed] However, the commander of the army, Kael Pindanon, died in this battle, so Ander decided to name Stee Jans as a replacement.[2] Soon after this occurred, Elven trackers reported that a larger army than the one they were currently facing was attempting to flank them from the north, so the Elves retreated out the Draw back to Arborlon, abandoning the Sarandanon.[2]
