Crowley's Ridge Parkway is a 212.0-mile (341.2 km) road that runs in Arkansas and Missouri along Crowley's Ridge and Ozark-St. Francis National Forest. The route was designated a state scenic byway in Arkansas in 1997 (Missouri in 2000) and a National Scenic Byway in 1998.[1] It has historical, archeological, and cultural significance and is an example of the Southern heritage of the area.

Arkansas

198.0 miles (318.7 km) of the 212.0 miles (341.2 km) are in the state of Arkansas. The route travels among many different unique species of animals and plants, and meets historical sites such as the Parkin Archaeological State Park, Chalk Bluff Battlefield and the Battle of Helena Battlefields.[2] The Parkway also tours Lake Poinsett State Park, which offers numerous campgrounds to travellers.[3] The Arkansas Blues and Heritage Festival take place along the route in Helena.[4]

Cities

Cities along the Arkansas portion of the route include Piggott, Paragould, Jonesboro, Wynne, Forrest City, Marianna, West Helena and Helena.

Parks

The Parkway runs through numerous parks, including Chalk Bluff Battlefield Park, Crowley's Ridge State Park, Delta Cultural Center, Hemingway-Pfeiffer Museum and Educational Center, Lake Frierson State Park, Lake Poinsett State Park, Louisiana Purchase Historic State Park, Parker Pioneer Homestead, Parkin Archeological State Park, Southland Greyhound Park, and the Village Creek State Park. In Missouri the route runs past Morris State Park.

Missouri

Crowley's Ridge Parkway terminates after 14.2 miles (22.9 km) in the Missouri "Bootheel".[5] It continues to run through unique countryside and American Civil War era battlefields before terminating at Route 25 near Kennett.
