Arcade style controller

Arcade style controller

An arcade style controller is a high quality gaming controller for a home console that is designed to replicate the arcade experience as closely as possible. Sometimes there are official controllers, but many times it is up to the fans of the game to create their own.

For Bemani

Music games in the Bemani series often will have official "ASC"s released by Konami's fan-gear subdivision called "KonamiStyle". They are produced in limited numbers, as they are very expensive and heavy, intended for hardcore fans of the game. Typically, a music game ASC will cost between $200 and $400 USD. Konami ASCs have been produced for Dance Dance Revolution, beatmaniaIIDX, Pop'n Music, and GuitarFreaks. Some people consider the Yamaha DTX to be the drummania ASC, though that classification is not official. This is because the drummania arcade machine has a prominently branded DTX built into the front of the cabinet. The official Dance Dance Revolution ASC is no longer in production, and is very rare. Currently, the most well known replacement is the Cobalt Flux.

There are also some fans running mail-order businesses selling unofficial, custom-built ASCs for various bemani games, at varying levels of quality. Some are intended to be a step up from the official issue ASCs, while others are intended to fill the void between the standard controller and the fancier ones.
