There are or have been over thirty Catholic elementary schools within the Archdiocese of Louisville.

Ascension Elementary School

Serves grades PreK-8 within the Archdiocese of Louisville. Sports teams play under the name "The Ascension Longhorns" and are known as a football and basketball The Class of 1998's football players never saw a defeat in 4 years of play, capturing 4 Toy Bowl titles and going 40-0.

It is located in the St. Regis Park section of Louisville, and serves about 370 students. The principal is Mrs. Mary Jo Ellis who directs a staff of 35 teachers plus supporting staff. In addition to core curriculum classes, students attend art, music, computer, PE, and Spanish classes.

Community Catholic Elementary School

Holy Spirit Elementary School

In 2007, the school was honored as a Blue Ribbon School[1].

John Paul II Academy

This school was created in 2006 by the merger of St. Barnabas Elementary School, St. Bartholomew Elementary School, and St. Pius X Elementary School. Its current principal[when?] is Mrs. Wilt.

Thomas Merton Academy

The school was named after Trappist monk and author Thomas Merton. The kindergarten through eighth grade school closed in 2003.

St. Albert the Great Elementary School

St. Andrew Academy

School created in 2005 by the merger of Our Lady of Consolation Elementary School, St. Clement Elementary School, and St. Polycarp Elementary School

St. Denis Elementary School

Closed at the end of the 2003-2004 school year.

St. Gabriel Elementary School

St. Helen Elementary School

Closed at the end of the 2003-2004 school year.

St. Lawrence Elementary School

This school merged with St. Helen and St. Denis Elementary Schools in 2004 to form Notre Dame Academy. The school remains on the St. Lawrence Parish grounds.

St. Nicholas Academy

Created in 2005 by the merger of Most Blessed Sacrament Elementary School, Our Lady of Mount Carmel Elementary School, S.S. Simon & Jude Elementary School, and St. Thomas More Elementary School.

St. Raphael School

St. Raphael's has programs from 2 years to the eighth grade. Famous Alumni from St. Raphael include Griffin Brown and John Min Gu Kim current vice-president of St. Xavier High School.

St. Raphael has also won the Blue Ribbon twice and has excelled in many academic and sport awards over the years. It also has a big catholic community, were we not just teach, we live it.

Tom Cruise and Jennifer Carpenter attended.
