The Communist Party of the Soviet Union General-Secretarial election of 1953 (March 13) was a contest for the General Secretary of the Communist Party of the Soviet Union, or Chairperson, which was won by Nikita Khrushchev.

Malenkov took office on March 13, 1953, and his title changed from Chairperson to First Secretary on September 13, 1953.
