Cognitive capture

Cognitive capture, also known as cognitive tunneling, is a phenomenon in which the observer is too focused on the instrumentation and not on the whole environment. For example, while driving, if the driver is focused on the speedometer and not on the road, he or she will be suffering from cognitive capture.
