Star Wars: Clone Wars (comics)

Star Wars: Clone Wars is a 9 volume series of trade paperbacks published by Dark Horse Comics between 2003 and 2006 that collect various comics dealing with the Clone Wars. Also Dark Horse Comics has also started a , quarterly, graphic-novella series and a monthly comic series that take place during the TV show Star Wars: The Clone Wars (2008 TV series), which started in December 2009

Story

The story describes the events during the Clone Wars, set between the events of Star Wars: Episode II Attack of the Clones and Star Wars: Episode III Revenge of the Sith. Important characters include are Anakin Skywalker, Obi-Wan Kenobi, Mace Windu, Count Dooku, the Clone Troopers, Asajj Ventress and Quinlan Vos, the last one which has not been featured in any of the Star Wars films.

Style

This series is aimed towards an older audience than the Clone Wars Adventures comic book series that were published around the same time. The stories are more complex, and feature more graphic violence.

TPB Summary:

Two undercover Jedi discover a Separatist plan to destroy the cloning facility on the watery world of Kamino, thus crippling the Republic's ability to maintain their clone army. Obi-Wan Kenobi and Anakin Skywalker are part of a Jedi fighter squadron sent to protect Kamino, but they learn that there are heroes fighting for the Separatist cause as well as for the Republic, and that Jango Fett, though dead, still has something to say about how this war is fought! Meanwhile, Mace Windu, a leading member of the Jedi Council, must deal with a rift in the Jedi ranks—a matter that reveals a Jedi traitor and a new Dark Jedi working in league with Dooku. Mace is considered one of the best swordsmen in the galaxy, but can he stand up to the swordmaster who taught him everything he knows—including the mysterious technique known as "Vaapad"?[1]

The events in this story take place between two and three months after the Battle of Geonosis (as seen in Star Wars: Attack of the Clones).

Clone Trooper Waxer, from the episodes "Innocents of Ryloth" and "Landing at Point Rain", make a brief cameo in the comic.

Tie in to TV series:

This comic book bring back Plo Koon's clone commander Wolffe. It tells how Wolffe lost his eye when he's seen in "Grievous Intrigue". This is also the first time he's seen in clone armor which looks like the clone troopers' seen in both "Rising Malevolence" and "R2 Come Home" with a wolf emblazoned on his helmet. Also, Sinker, one of the clone troopers with Wolffe and Koon from the "Rising Malevolence" episode makes a brief cameo in the book.
