Avita Medical (ASXAVH) develops spray-on skin processes to treat skin trauma, including burns. They market their artificial skin products under the names CellSpray and ReCell.[1] According to Avita, ReCell has been approved for marketing and sale in Europe, Canada and Australia.[2]

Originally named "Clinical Cell Culture" (ASXC3), the company restructured under the name "Avita Medical" in June 2008 with a new CEO, William Dolphin.

US Government grant

In 2009 the United States Armed Forces Institute of Regenerative Medicine provided Avita with a US$1.45 million grant to hasten the approval of the ReCell kit with the U.S. Food and Drug Administration.[3]
