Early life

Scott grew up in Wheaton, Maryland. At the age of 14, he moved with his family to Hollywood, California, and entered the 9th grade at Hollywood High School. He applied and was accepted into the performing arts magnet program. During his four years in the program, he had leading roles in several stage productions and studied various styles of dance, particularly excelling in tap. To hone his tap dancing skills, he spent many weekends as a street performer on the Venice Beach boardwalk and the 3rd Street Promenade in Santa Monica, California.

Career

Scott has appeared as an actor and dancer in several movies including his most notable role as "Hair" in Step Up 2 The Streets and Step Up 3D,[1] both directed by John M. Chu. He has also garnered a number of notable credits as a choreographer including the 82nd Academy Awards,[2] Lemonade Mouth, a Disney Channel Original Movie,[3][4][5] and So You Think You Can Dance, season 8.[6]

In 2009, Scott teamed up with Harry Shum, Jr. to choreograph the super hero inspired web series The Legion of Extraordinary Dancers, aka The LXD.[7] An experiment in storytelling through dance, the series is the brainchild of writer/director/producer Jon Chu. [8] [9]

Scott also appears in the LXD as "Copeland" a dancer with extraordinary tap dancing skills who is haunted by a painful past. In his quest to overcome and eradicate his personal demons, "Copeland" begrudgingly joins the LXD.

In 2011, Scott choreographed the So You Think You Can Dance season 7 Top 11 and All-Stars finale group dance and has made frequent appearances in season 8 of the show.[10]
