Chris Carmouche (born December 19, 1978), known as "Mouche" is a producer, recording engineer and rapper. In 2004, Carmouche won a Grammy for his work on Outkast's Speakerboxxx/The Love Below.

Early life

Chris was born December 19, 1978 in Church Point, LA to Robert and Elizabeth Carmouche. He was raised in Sunset, LA outside of Metro-Lafayette. Carmouche's early musical influences included Duran Duran, Big Daddy Kane, N.W.A., Michael Jackson, and Prince. Carmouche got his musical start playing classical piano in grade school, laying the foundation for his musical career as a drum major in high school marching band and playing the Ensoniq ASR-10 keyboard he received as a gift at the age of 15.

Carmouche graduated from Georgia State University in 2002 with a Bachelors Degree in music with a focus in audio engineering.

Career

Carmouche got an internship with Stankonia Studios during his senior year of college, helping to engineer Outkast's Grammy-winning album Speakerboxxx/The Love Below. Carmouche stayed with Stankonia as an engineer, mixer and performer, working closely on artists’ projects such as Lil Jon, Big Boi, Usher, Beyonce, Akon, Cee-Lo Green, Nelly, Ice Cube and Chamillionaire.

Carmouche played the roles of Associate Producer and Engineer, Mixing, A&R, Vocals and Coordination for Big Boi's latest album release, Sir Lucious Left Foot...The Son of Chico Dusty earning a grammy nomination for his work. He is currently working on Big Boi's next solo album: Daddy Fat Sax… Soul Funk Crusader, along with working on producing new artists through Purple Ribbon Entertainment.
