Chris Blackhurst

Chris Blackhurst (born 24 December 1959) is a British newspaper editor.

Born in Barrow-in-Furness, Chris's father, Don, is a former Conservative borough councillor of Bideford Gardens. Chris attended Barrow Grammar School after which he went on to study law at Trinity Hall, Cambridge before joining the staff of a legal magazine.^[1] He soon moved to Fleet Street, where he worked for the Insight investigations team of the Sunday Times before becoming City Editor of the Daily Express in 1990. He became Deputy Editor of The Independent in 1996, but followed editor Rosie Boycott back to the Express in 1998, again as Deputy Editor. From 2002 he edited the City Pages of the Evening Standard, until he was appointed as Editor of The Independent in 2011.^[2]
