The director of Intelligence Bureau (Devanāgarī: खुफिया ब्यूरो के निदेशक, Khufīya Bureau Ke Nīrdeshāk) simply known as DIB is the senior most post in Intelligence Bureau and the only four-star[1] Indian Police Service rank in the country. The current director of Intelligence Bureau is Mr. Nehchal Sandhu.

Authority

Director IB (DIB) is a member of the Joint Intelligence Committee (JIC) and Steering Committee and has the authority to brief the prime minister should the need arise, but intelligence inputs (at least in theory) go through the regular channels in the Ministry of Home Affairs to the Joint Intelligence Committee.
