The big-headed Amazon River turtle or big-headed sideneck, Peltocephalus dumerilianus, is a species of turtle in the family Podocnemididae. It is monotypic within the genus Peltocephalus.[citation needed] It is found in Brazil, Colombia, French Guiana, Venezuela, possibly Ecuador, and possibly Peru.
