List of Tekken characters

List of Tekken characters

The following is a list of playable characters from the fighting game, Tekken. The characters are listed in order of the games they debuted in:

Introduced in Tekken

Anna Williams

Anna Williams (アンナ・ウィリアムズ Anna Wiriamuzu?) is the younger sister of Nina Williams. She is a playable character only in the console version of the game.

In Tekken 2, Nina is hired to kill the tournament's sponsor, Kazuya Mishima. Whether at Kazuya's discretion or Anna's own volition, Anna becomes a bodyguard for Kazuya, along with Ganryu and Bruce Irvin. It is likely that Anna's interference prevents her sister from carrying out her contract, and Nina is later captured by Mishima Zaibatsu forces and used in Doctor Boskonovitch's cryogenics ('cold-sleep') research. Learning about this, Anna volunteers to be another test subject, requesting that she be woken in the future at the same time as Nina. Her reasons for doing so remain ambiguous, though the game suggests that Anna would have felt lonely without Nina and/or jealous at the thought of her sister's youth being preserved.

In Tekken 3, Anna is awakened at the same time as her sister, eighteen years after the second tournament, but she does not fall under Ogre's influence like Nina does. Nina also begins to suffer side effects from the 'cold-sleep', resulting in long term memory loss. In an act of compassion, Anna sets out to stop Nina from once again becoming an assassin, and to help her recover her memory loss. For reasons unknown, Nina eventually resumes her life as an assassin and loses touch with Anna.

Unfortunately, when Nina decides to contact Anna in hopes of restoring her memory, their meeting triggers Nina's lost feelings of hostility towards her sister, and she immediately opens fire. Anna retaliates, and the reunion descends into a gunfight which lasts for days. The sisters eventually reach a stalemate and agree to settle things for good at The King of Iron Fist Tournament 5. The two eventually meet and fight, but Nina wins and quickly goes into hiding after the tournament's conclusion.

Anna, longing for revenge, hears rumors that Nina has become the bodyguard of Jin Kazama, the new head of the Mishima Zaibatsu, so Anna decides to join forces with G Corporation. She enters the sixth Iron Fist tournament to intercept her sister, who enters with the same intent as Anna.

GameDaily listed Anna as one of its top 50 hottest female characters in video games, placing her at number 47 on the list.[1]

Anna appears in the anime Tekken: The Motion Picture as one of the primary antagonists. Her rivalry with Nina is also one of the film's subplots, only with a few minor differences, such as the two vying for the attention of Lee Chaolan (their unfaithful contractor) and Anna being responsible for the death of their father. During her fight with Nina, Anna is killed by a biologically enhanced dinosaur-like being. She also appears in the live-action film Tekken portrayed by Marian Zapico. Anna appears also in the 2011 CGI movie Tekken: Blood Vengeance, where she's voiced by Tara Platt in English and by Akeno Watanabe in Japanese. In the film she works under Kazuya Mishima and forces Ling Xiaoyu to find Shin Kamiya who possesses and survived the M-cell experiment.

Armor King

Armor King (アーマー・キング Āmā Kingu?) was a rival of King's when the latter was still an inexperienced wrestler. One of his eyes accidentally got damaged during a fight with King. Armor King eventually disappeared from the official Lucha libre scene but showed unrivaled prowess in shady fights.

When his rival and friend King ran away, choosing the path of the drunkard, Armor King became worried and intervened just in time, as King was at the edge of a breakdown. Finding King distraught and drunk in an alleyway, he convinced him to get back into the spirit of fighting and enter the second tournament.

Years later, King was attacked and killed by Ogre. However, Armor King saw a new fighter with a jaguar mask step into the wrestling ring in order to save the orphanage, and decided to train him to become the second King.

Before The King of Iron Fist Tournament 4, Craig Marduk started a bar brawl in Arizona, and Armor King was killed. This is the extent of his involvement in this game, as he does not make an actual appearance, but instead becomes King's reason for entering the tournament, for revenge.

Tekken 5 saw the apparent return of Armor King, but the subsequent title, Tekken 6, revealed him to be the younger brother of the original.

Ganryu

Ganryu (巌竜 Ganryū?) was banned from the sumo ring after he was caught fixing fights in his favor. Blackballed from the only sport that he was capable of fighting in, Ganryu ended up being employed by Heihachi Mishima in Tekken. He fights Yoshimitsu who defeats him and steals his ill-gotten money. Later, he works for Kazuya Mishima in Tekken 2. Entering the second King of Iron Fist Tournament, Ganryu ended up falling in love with Michelle Chang - a love that Michelle was oblivious to, believing Ganryu to be a disgusting, woman-crazed madman. After Michelle defeated him, and the disappearance of Kazuya, Ganryu returned to Japan.

However, his ban from Sumo was lifted, and he became the youngest ever Rikishi. Among the dialogue in Tekken 5, it is stated that Ganryu has never won a championship. After the events of Tekken 2, Ganryu opened a sumo stable and worked as a trainer to other sumo wrestlers. He did this to finally forget about Michelle. One day, while watching a televised showing of the King of Iron Fist Tournament 4, he spotted Julia Chang as one of the competitors. Remarking how much she looked like his old crush, Michelle, Ganryu decided to enter the fifth tournament, convinced that he would win Julia's heart if he recovered her lost Forest Rejuvenation Data.

During the King of Iron Fist Tournament 5, Ganryu lost his way. By accident, he entered the lab of the Mishima Zaibatsu and found the Forest Rejuvenation data—the very data that Julia Chang was searching for. With it in hand, he hoped to finally be able to propose to Julia and make her his wife. However, during their meeting, Julia received the disc and left before Ganryu got the chance to propose. Putting the episode behind him, Ganryu moved to Hawaii and opened a restaurant, Chanko Paradise. However, the management was poor and the restaurant was not getting anywhere. Knowing that another The King of Iron Fist Tournament was being held, Ganryu decided to enter in hopes of advertising his restaurant.

He appears briefly in the 2011 CGI Movie Tekken Blood Vengeance as a teacher (presumably PE) in Ling Xiayo's school. He was voiced by Hidenari Ugaki.

Heihachi Mishima

Jack

Jack (ジャック Jakku?) is a series of androids created by the Mishima Zaibatsu and G Corporation for different purposes:

  • Jack is the original model, and was created by the Mishima Zaibatsu in order to counter a coup from Kazuya Mishima in the King of Iron Fist Tournament.
  • Prototype Jack is a prototype created to combat both Jack and Jack-2. This is also the only Jack to fight in more than one tournament.
  • Jack-2 is the upgrade of Jack, also created by the Mishima Zaibatsu. One of these models, while on a battlefront, witnesses a young girl named Jane lose her mother, and takes it upon himself to look after her until he is destroyed by Dr. Abel.
  • Gun Jack is a more advanced prototype of the android, created by Jane in an attempt to revive her friend, Jack-2. While she is successful in implanting Jack-2's memories inside him, he is destroyed by gunfire by the Tekken Forces after he and Jane attempt to break into the Mishima Zaibatsu labs.
  • Jack-4 is an upgrade of Gun Jack, created by G Corporation. While these never participated in any tournament, they were sent by G Corporation to kill Kazuya Mishima after they no longer needed him, and the subsequent battle in Hon-Maru almost resulted in the death of Heihachi Mishima. These specific models have a self-destruct device embedded in them, indicated when one of them peels away its face to reveal a countdown.
  • Jack-5 is an upgrade of Jack-4, created by Jane to participate in the King of Iron Fist Tournament 5. His fate is currently unknown.
  • Jack-6 is an upgrade of Jack-5, created by G Corporation with the mission of destroying the Mishima Zaibatsu in the King of Iron Fist Tournament 6.

GameDaily placed Jack 24th on their "Top 25 Video Game Robots" list, stating "While not the most popular character in the Tekken series, Jack punched its way to become a worthy opponent."[2]

Kazuya Mishima

King

Kuma

Kuma (クマ?, lit. "Bear") is Heihachi Mishima's pet. Like King, there are actually two characters by the name, and between them, they have appeared in all the Tekken games so far.

Raised and trained in the Mishima style of fighting arts, the first Kuma became an avid bodyguard for his master. In the first two tournaments, Kuma enters to defeat Paul Phoenix. However, he loses to Paul in both tournaments, and shortly after, he dies of old age, leaving behind a young cub, who becomes a bodyguard in his place for Heihachi. In Tekken, Kuma was represented as a Sun Bear; however in Tekken 2, Kuma is either a Grizzly Bear or a Polar Bear, depending on which costume is used.

The second Kuma is the son of the first Kuma. Raised and trained in the Mishima style of fighting arts, learning of his father's defeat, Kuma Jr. decides to train with his master and enter The King of Iron Fist Tournament 3. However, he fails, and realizes that due to his docile upbringing by Heihachi, he could not utilize his animal instincts to his full potential. Leaving Heihachi, Kuma Jr. travels to the mountains of Hokkaidō to train himself, both mentally and physically. Now hearing of The King of Iron Fist Tournament 4, Kuma enters, more powerful than ever to defeat Paul. He succeeds, and he quickly returns home in triumph. Now learning that Jinpachi Mishima has taken over the Mishima Zaibatsu, Kuma once again takes his role of the loyal pet, vowing to return the syndicate to Heihachi by entering the King of Iron Fist Tournament 5, but he is defeated by Paul. After the death of his former master, Heihachi Mishima, Kuma believed no one but he could rescue the Mishima Financial Group (MFG) from its captor. Eager to do just that, Kuma confronted the MFG. However, the MFG's new CEO, Jin Kazama, was waiting. Kuma was easily beaten and discarded in the Hokkaido wilderness. Though defeated, his fighting spirit was not lost and he found his former master Heihachi.

Kunimitsu

Kunimitsu (州光?) was a former member of the Manji clan of ninja bandits led by Yoshimitsu. She lost her Japanese identity when she joined the group to maintain her anonymity. Upon joining, she was taught the skills of the stealth knife and Manji-style ninjutsu. She stayed with the group for a few months, until a series of petty thefts from the band's funds led to her dismissal. At a loose end, she decided to train as a mechanic mending air conditioners. She entered the first King of Iron Fist Tournament intending to steal a Native American treasure from a young brave Michelle Chang. Kunimitsu, fearing the wrath of the vengeful Michelle, went into hiding.

Feeling humiliated, Kunimitsu sought solace with her grandfather. He was a swordsmith with a reputation. He informed Kunimitsu that the sword used by Yoshimitsu is a relic of unimaginable value. She learned that it was handed down through the Manji band and it had the power to sever an enemy both spiritually and mentally. The sword exchanges hands when a new leader is elected. The old leader is ritually sacrificed and the sword's power is transferred to its new owner. Kunimitsu's grandfather has spent his entire existence trying to forge a copy of the sword. Kunimitsu had to enter the second tournament to face and defeat Yoshimitsu and claim the sword so that her grandfather could make a copy before his death. Her fate, however, is unknown as she has not made an canonical appearance since Tekken 2. It could be speculated that she was also attacked by Ogre, as Ogre has a few of her moves in Tekken 3 (Deadly Slice, Deadly Slash).

Lee Chaolan

Lee Chaolan (李 超狼 Rī Chaoran?) is Kazuya Mishima's foster brother, and Heihachi Mishima's adopted son. Lee's parents died when he was a young child, leaving him to fend for himself on the streets. Facing a hostile environment each day, Lee quickly became a skilled scrapper with reflexes that were amazing for a boy of his age. It was these qualities that caught the eye of Heihachi, who witnessed Lee fighting off several other kids while on a business trip. Impressed by his natural ability, Heihachi decided to adopt Lee, and took him back to Japan to be educated. It is not known if he actually felt any emotion towards the orphan; it has been suggested that he simply raised him to replace his blood son Kazuya, whom he had at first considered to be too weak to inherit the Zaibatsu. Another possibility is that Heihachi wanted to give Kazuya a rival to inspire him to shape up.

Before the events of the original Tekken, Heihachi sent Lee to the U.S. to handle the Mishima Zaibatsu's operations there, and to continue his business education. While Heihachi trained Kazuya in the art of Mishima Style Fighting Karate, Lee studied with Paul Phoenix and Marshall Law in the U.S. This is the reason for some of the moves that Lee shares with Paul Phoenix and Marshall Law.

When Kazuya took the Zaibatsu from Heihachi, Lee decided to work with his brother. Considering the rather demeaning position he received (is known by Kazuya as his secretary), it can be assumed that he did so only to be in a good position to overthrow Kazuya should the chance present itself. Lee was known to be the boss of Kazuya's cadre of personal bodyguards (Anna Williams, Bruce Irvin, Ganryu), and he also supervised Doctor Boskonovitch's projects for creating the ultimate military animal for Kazuya.

Lee fought in the second King of Iron Fist Tournament, his intention being to snatch the Zaibatsu from Kazuya. However, Heihachi returned from his supposed demise and defeated both Lee and Kazuya; he threw the latter into the mouth of an active volcano, and banished his adopted son from any aspect of his life or the Zaibatsu on the threat of death. Lee remained in Japan for a time afterwards, plotting to assassinate Heihachi as an act of retribution. However, he eventually came to the epiphany that it was a waste to murder an old man, who probably had only a few more years to live anyways. Thus, he left for America once again, and began setting the foundations for his longtime ambition: a robotics corporation. More importantly, he decided to distance himself from fighting; ultimately, he went into seclusion in the Bahamas to amass his own fortune.

Sometime before The King of Iron Fist Tournament 3, Lee was apparently one of the fighters that was attacked by Ogre, as Ogre has some of Lee's moves (including "Shin to Head Kick"). However, as he appears alive and well in Tekken 4, 5, and 6, it's clear that if Lee was attacked by Ogre, he survived the attack.

Returning in the fourth tournament, Lee is a successful businessman and C.E.O. of his now flourishing robotics corporation. He lives his days behind the sun-bathed walls of his Bahamas mansion, dividing his time between trading stocks online and simply relaxing, seemingly without a care in the world. Then one day, he discovered a huge selloff of G Corporation's stock online; he would soon learn that it was triggered by an attack on its main research lab by the Mishima Zaibatsu's Tekken Force. Days later, the King of Iron Fist Tournament 4 was announced. Lee sensed that something is amiss, but at the same time his fading passion for fighting was rekindled, along with his fierce resentment for the Mishima clan. He decided to enter the tournament. As a precaution that the Zaibatsu would not figure out his identity too early, he entered online under the name "Violet", dyed his silver hair purple and donned a pair of sunglasses.[3]

It is suggested that Lee was rather successful and made it to the later phases of the tournament. However, he was shocked to see that his next opponent was none other than Kazuya, who was resurrected by G Corporation many years ago. Losing his focus, Lee was defeated by his foster brother, who would go on to face Heihachi. Lee's final fight is against Combot, making him one of the few characters for which Heihachi isn't the boss.[4]

In the confusion surrounding the death of Heihachi, Lee was scheming to take over the Mishima Zaibatsu but was enraged when he learned that someone else had already beat him to it. Lee, believing it was Kazuya who usurped the Mishima Zaibatsu, was vexed that Kazuya had once again stood in his way. A month later, the King of Iron Fist Tournament 5 was announced and Lee immediately decided to enter. Lee was determined to settle the score with Kazuya in the tournament and claim the Mishima Zaibatsu.[4]

Lee took part in the King of Iron Fist Tournament 5 in order to take revenge on Kazuya Mishima. However, the one who had opened the tournament was not Kazuya, but Jinpachi Mishima, and Lee, after learning this fact, lost interest in the tournament and returned to his mansion in the Bahamas. Soon afterwards, the MFG, led by Jin Kazama brought the world to chaos, and around the same time G Corporation became a major opposition. Surprised by G Corporation's sudden military action, Lee, being a major shareholder, conducted a private investigation with the utmost secrecy and discovered that Kazuya had become the real power behind G Corporation's actions. After obtaining information that the King of Iron Fist Tournament 6 would be held, Lee knew that Kazuya himself would take part in this tournament. He used a shareholder's preferential treatment ticket and entered the tournament in order to get close to Kazuya.

Lee appears briefly in the 2011 CGI film Tekken: Blood Vengeance as a overzealous, eccentric and often ignored yet extremely wealthy teacher at Kyoto International School. He aids Alisa and Ling Xiaoyu during an escape by providing them shelter and seems nonchalant when his home was destroyed by Anna and Nina Williams' fight.

Marshall Law

Marshall Law (マーシャル・ロウ Māsharu Rou?) is a Chinese American who fights using various martial arts. Sometimes known as "The Fighting Chef," he is a close friend of Paul Phoenix, and he is the father of Forest Law.

25-year-old Marshall enters the first King of Iron Fist Tournament in order to gain enough money so he could start his own dojo. He does win enough money for his dojo as a runner-up and took Wang Jinrei to a draw. He is indeed married, as "Mrs. Law" is seen in Yoshimitsu's ending.

In Tekken 2, Law (now 28) enters the tournament to exact his revenge on the Taekwondo fighter Baek Doo San, who attacked Law's pupils and destroyed his dojo.

Marshall declined to participate in the King of Iron Fist Tournament 3 tournament; however, Paul convinces Marshall's son, Forest, to enter, causing a falling out between Paul and Law.

Before Tekken 4, a 48-year-old Law finds success as the master of a martial arts dojo, and as the owner of a restaurant chain called "Marshall China", back in the USA. However, an incident involving a customer and some food with rival restaurant chain openings drives him to bankruptcy, and he falls into a depressed, alcoholic state. However, when The King of Iron Fist Tournament 4 is announced, he beats himself back into shape to compete in the tournament, determined to pick up his business again.

At the end of Tekken 4, after Law fails to win the tournament, he is completely broke, and he now works as a dish washer at a restaurant in Japan. Just before the events of Tekken 5, he receives a phone call from his wife in America. She informs him that Forest was badly hurt in an accident while riding on Paul Phoenix's motorcycle. During the middle of the King of Iron Fist Tournament 5, it was discovered that Marshall Law was working illegally in Japan, and as a result he was immediately deported back to America. With the deadline to pay for the damages of his son's accident fast approaching, hopes of getting the money needed were slim. However, Paul Phoenix approached him with the idea of forming a team to win the tournament; securing a high-ranking prize alone would certainly be difficult, but if he was part of a team, the probability of winning would be much higher. Marshall accepted Paul's invite to form a team with him and the renowned boxer Steve Fox.

When the King of Iron Fist Tournament 6 was announced, Law entered, hoping he would win the tournament to finish paying Forest's hospital bill. This time he has backup in Paul Phoenix and Steve Fox and believes they are sure to win.

Marshall bears a very close resemblance in both appearance and fighting style to Chinese martial arts legend Bruce Lee. His costumes resemble several of the costumes worn by Lee in various films, such as the yellow track suit worn in Game of Death and the black pants with no shirt worn in Enter the Dragon. Marshall also has three scars on his chest which resemble the cuts received by Lee in Enter the Dragon.

The fighting style used by Marshall Law appears to be heavily based on Jeet Kune Do, an art created by Bruce Lee. His move list includes many of Bruce Lee's popularized moves including the One Inch Punch and the jumping side kick. In Tekken 6, Marshall Law's fighting stance was changed to resemble Bruce Lee's traditional Jeet Kune Do stance.

In the 2010 live-action film Tekken, Marshall Law is portrayed by mixed martial artist Cung Le. Unlike the video game incarnation, this film version of Law does not practice Jeet Kune Do. He is portrayed as a disgraced former champion of the Iron Fist tournament, and participates in Steve Fox's underground fighting tournaments for hustling money. He reigns as the "People's Choice" until Jin Kazama appears and defeats him.

Michelle Chang

Michelle Chang (ミシェール・チャン Mishēru Chan?) is a half-Chinese half-Native American woman from Arizona (her father Bernard Chang was from Hong Kong, China and her mother is a Native American from Arizona) and the foster mother of Julia Chang. Her father was killed along with the rest of the tribe by Heihachi Mishima's forces, who were searching for a treasure, a pendant that allegedly could control and subdue great powers and spirits. The pendant was coveted by Heihachi. When the Mishima Zaibatsu forces had left, Michelle's father gave Michelle the pendant before dying. Michelle entered the King of Iron Fist Tournament to seek vengeance on Heihachi for the murder of her father and tribe. Michelle also encountered Kunimitsu, a treasure hunter that was seeking the pendant. Michelle defeated Kunimitsu and secured the amulet. She promptly withdrew from the tournament; as she had achieved what she then realised should have been her main goal, and although she did not win the tournament, Michelle was still satisfied that another fighter (Kazuya Mishima) defeated Heihachi.

In Tekken 2, Michelle's mother had been kidnapped by Ganryu, who was working for Kazuya. Kazuya wanted the amulet. She had entered the tournament to rescue her mother. Michelle meets Ganryu and battles him. After defeating Ganryu, she rescues her mother and returns home. However, unknown to her, Ganryu had fallen in love with her. Upon returning home, Michelle casts the amulet into the ocean so that it can no longer cause any trouble.

A couple of years later, Michelle discovers an abandoned baby girl nearby her village. She adopts the infant, names her Julia, and loves her as if she were her own daughter. When Julia grows into a teenager, Michelle teaches her Chang Kenpo and various Chinese martial arts. Later, Michelle is kidnapped by Heihachi Mishima for her amulet, which had the power to awaken Ogre with its great power and spirits. Julia had entered the tournament to defeat Heihachi and save her mother. She appears in Julia's ending, being reunited with her adopted daughter.

Michelle has not appeared or been mentioned since Tekken Tag Tournament, but the Tekken artwork book implies she may have died sometime after Tekken 3. Michelle also briefly appears in Tekken: The Motion Picture with a bigger role than most of the other contenders. Before the tournament, she attempts to kill Heihachi with an axe, but Heihachi breaks the axe with his teeth and welcomes Michelle's challenge if she makes it to the tower. Michelle encounters and defeats Ganryu, but is beaten by Kazuya to the point that she begs him to let her face Heihachi and take revenge for Heihachi burning down her village and inadvertently killing both her parents, but Kazuya refuses and almost kills her when she attacks him relentlessly but for Jun Kazama's timely intervention. She is later found and rescued from the crumbling island by Paul Phoenix.

Nina Williams

Paul Phoenix

Paul Phoenix (ポール・フェニックス Pōru Fenikkusu?) is a judo expert and a good friend of the Law family. His mixture of judo and Shotokan karate has achieved legendary status, but a seemingly minor complication always arises that prevents him from winning the tournament, as in the case when a traffic jam prevents his confrontation with his rival, Kazuya Mishima, at the end of the second Iron Fist tournament.

In common with many Tekken characters, Paul's moveset includes flamboyant fictional attacks, mixed with more realistic-looking techniques. While his strike-heavy style bears little in common with grapple-based modern olympic judo, early judo did in fact include striking attacks, based as it was on various forms of jujutsu.[5] In Tekken, Paul's sub-boss was Kuma, a bear supposedly trained by Heihachi Mishima; this was explained by Paul having witnessed as a child a martial artist called Willie Williams fighting a bear. Willie Williams is a real-life kyokushin karateka, who can indeed be seen challenging a bear in a sequence filmed as part of a documentary about Kyokushin Karate,.

Paul went undefeated during The King of Iron Fist Tournament 3,starting a feud with Kuma then he even managed to beat Ogre. He left soon afterwards, claiming himself to be the winner. However, Ogre evolved into True Ogre and the tournament continued after his departure. Having realized this only sometime afterwards, Paul became frustrated and angry. Few believed him when he told everyone that he was the true winner of The King of Iron Fist Tournament 3. After a short while, he soon turned to alcohol. Paul then heard an announcement for The King of Iron Fist Tournament 4. Paul trained vigorously and entered the tournament to prove himself once more.

Rolling through his opponents one-by-one, Paul felt excited at the prospects of facing Kazuya Mishima, whom he had not faced in over 20 years. However, he once again found Kuma standing in his way. His mind distracted, Paul did not take Kuma seriously at first, and by the time he realized his mistake, he was quickly overwhelmed by the bear and defeated. His loss to Kuma shamed Paul greatly, and he realized he had strayed from the path of a true martial artist and started his training all over again. When the fifth tournament was announced, Paul entered to prove that he is, literally, "the toughest fighter in the universe".

Paul Phoenix's rematch with Kuma was fierce, and though victorious, he was utterly exhausted, leaving him unable to continue the King of Iron Fist Tournament 5. Unable to collect any prize money from the last tournament, Paul, who was already burdened by his mountain of debt, learns that a new King of Iron Fist Tournament will be held soon. Believing that if he won the tournament, he could finally say goodbye to his loan troubles, Paul deeply thought about ways to increase his chances of winning—participating on his own was out of the question. If he could assemble a team with someone, his chances of winning the prize money would greatly increase. And so he went over his plan with his best friend Marshall Law - but thinking a three-man team was better than two, renowned boxer Steve Fox caught his attention.

Paul's name is mentioned in the film Tekken where he got knocked out by Marshall Law in 28 seconds.

Wang Jinrei

Wang Jinrei (王 椋雷 Wan Jinrei?) was a companion of Jinpachi Mishima, Heihachi Mishima's father. Wang watched Heihachi and Kazuya Mishima with great interest as they grew and chose their respective paths of life. Wang remained generous and kind whilst living as a recluse in the Mishima gardens. Wang also tutored Ling Xiaoyu, his granddaughter, in the martial arts at a young age. Furthermore, Wang Jinrei took Marshall Law on in the first King of Iron Fist Tournament, which ended in a draw. However, Wang loses to Jun Kazama in the second tournament.

Now, Wang tends to the huge number of vegetables in the gardens, finding time to hone his martial arts skill. Every morning at the crack of dawn, he can be seen strolling down the mountains gazing at the clouds. His lithe athletiscism, despite his age, has meant that his inner chi strength is channelled with great purity of spirit, despite his frail bones. His reason for entering the second tournament is to carry out the final wishes of the long-dead Jinpachi. During his life, Jinpachi watched with grief as Heihachi and Kazuya followed the path of evil. He instructed his faithful friend to eliminate both of them when the time was right. Wang theorises that the best way to fulfill this plea is to face all challengers giving way to those adept enough to defeat Kazuya and dispatches those unworthy of his attention. Heihachi will stare into the face of destiny at another time. Wang enters the fifth tournament to find out the authenticity of a letter he received, noting that Jinpachi had come back.

Wang heard of the Mishima family's cursed blood from his close friend, Jinpachi Mishima. Wang was defeated in The King of Iron Fist Tournament 5 by Jin Kazama, whose purpose was to wipe out the Mishima family's cursed blood. However, the real chaos began when Jin assumed control of the Mishima Financial Group (MFG). Blaming his failure on his indifference, Jinrei lamented his lack of action. Once again, The King of Iron Fist Tournament is held, and with newfound purpose, Wang participates in The King of Iron Fist Tournament 6.

Wang's fighting style is heavily based on Xingyiquan. Wang originally used moves similar to Michelle Chang, but steps have been taken to differentiate him from her successor, Julia Chang, since Tekken 5. The similarities have led to speculation that Wang was Michelle's father's teacher, although there is no in-game reference to this.

Yoshimitsu

Yoshimitsu (吉光?) makes his first appearance in 1994's Tekken. In the game's story, Yoshimitsu enters the first tournament as a decoy, so that other members of the Manji Party can steal the tournament's funds unobserved. Yoshimitsu learns about a sumo wrestler called Ganryu, whose disrespectful attitude in the ring cost him his promotion into Yokozuna rank. This base disrespect for the sumo code infuriates Yoshimitsu and he defeats Ganryu, stealing his ill-gotten money and giving it to the poor. At a later time, Yoshimitsu leads an infiltration on Dr. Boskonovitch's lab in order to steal his Eternal Energy device. Though Yoshimitsu loses his left arm during the infiltration, Boskonovitch helps the injured ninja escape and fits him with a mechanical prosthetic.

In Tekken 2, Yoshimitsu learns that Doctor Boskonovitch has been kidnapped by the Mishima Zaibatsu, and enters the second Tekken tournament to rescue him. Kunimitsu returns to the tournament in order to steal the clan's tachi. Yoshimitsu defeats Kunimitsu, and drops out of the tournament to rescue the doctor after learning his location. Yoshimitsu reappears in Tekken 3, trying to help Boskonovitch, whose daughter is suffering from a mysterious disease; Tekken 4, attempting to form alliances between the Zaibatsu and the Manji Party; Tekken 5, seeking Bryan Fury after he killed members of his clan; and Tekken 6, looking for a new sword after realizing that his current one is a cursed weapon driving him insane.

In 2006, Namco released a Yoshimitsu figurine as part of a Tekken 5 set based upon his promotional artwork for the game. While not posable, the PVC figure came with equipable clothing items modeled after those in the game.[6]

Yoshimitsu is one of only four characters to appear in every Tekken game, along with Heihachi Mishima, Paul Phoenix and Nina Williams. Additionally, Yoshimitsu appears in Namco's Soul series of fighting games, making his debut to the series in Soulcalibur as an unlockable character and returning for the subsequent installments.

In the 2009 live-action film Tekken, Yoshimitsu is portrayed by stuntman Gary Ray Stearns. He participates in the Iron Fist tournament and is pitted against Jin Kazama. While Yoshimitsu holds his own and nearly kills him, Jin eventually defeats him with a punch directly into his masked face after Yoshimitsu is distracted by an alarm.

Introduced in Tekken 2

Baek Doo San

Baek Doo San (白頭山 Peku Tō San?) (Hangul: 백두산) first appeared in Tekken 2 as the sub-boss of Marshall Law. According to the storyline, Baek accidentally killed his father during a sparring session, which left him in doubt over his own skills. As a result of his father's death, Baek went on a rampage, destroying several dojos. One of the worst hit happened to be Marshall Law's. Baek then left a note there telling him that he will be in the second King of Iron Fist tournament. The two met there and had a match, in which Baek lost.

According to the Tekken 3 storyline, Baek was presumed dead after encountering Ogre, the fictional Aztec God of Fighting. One of his closest students, Hwoarang, entered The King of Iron Fist Tournament 3 to exact revenge for his master's death and to have a rematch with Jin Kazama, the only fighter who had ever fought him to a draw.

According to the Tekken 5 storyline, Baek's encounter with Ogre had left him in a coma, not dead as initially presumed. He woke up over a year later, after Hwoarang had already competed in The King of Iron Fist Tournament 3. Baek later began teaching taekwondo at military bases. Hwoarang was drafted into the South Korean military, but he ran away to compete in The King of Iron Fist Tournament 4. When he was arrested by the South Korean Military Police, he was informed that Baek was alive. Two months later, Hwoarang completed his service, and Baek asked him to enter The King of Iron Fist Tournament 5. Baek also entered the tournament to test his student's skills.

Baek entered The King of Iron Fist Tournament 5, along with his disciple, Hwoarang. However, Baek withdrew from the tournament when he found out that Hwoarang lost to Devil Jin, and he was seriously injured. Baek then rushed to the hospital to visit Hwoarang. Although Hwoarang's condition wasn't considered as something serious after his treatment, Hwoarang wouldn't wake up, and Baek started blaming himself for being an inadequate instructor. It took Hwoarang three days to regain consciousness. They discussed the details, and Hwoarang told Baek that he not only has to recover, but he has to strengthen himself even further. Baek sensed his strong will and his unprecedented modesty, and hence he decided to teach him everything he knows. Baek and Hwoarang returned to Korea, and endeavoured to practice intensely. Eventually, the announcement of The King of Iron Fist Tournament 6 came from the Mishima Zaibatsu, and Baek decides to enter the tournament one last time to widen his personal experience-collection.

The name may be based on a combination of the mountain, Baekdu Mountain, and the 6th Geup Teul 'Do San' in ITF Tae Kwon Do. However the Baekdu Mountain is also known as 'Baekdu-san'. Due to Hwoarang's name being based on a Teul, it is only logical that Baek Doo-San is named similarly, however it has not been elaborated on by the developers.

Bruce Irvin

Bruce Irvin (ブルース・アーヴィン Burūsu Āvin?), who had lost both his parents and elder brother in his infancy, grew up living a life plagued by hunger and much violence. Disliking the cards fate had dealt him, Bruce yearned to live the good life, he therefore turned to fighting and joined the police force.

Bruce was sent to Japan to investigate the Mishima Zaibatsu and its leader Kazuya Mishima. Kazuya arranged for the plane Bruce was on to crash, however Bruce survived the crash, although he lost his memories. Kazuya then found him and hired him as a bodyguard. In Tekken 2, Bruce fought his old Police partner Lei Wulong, who entered the tournament to arrest Kazuya. Bruce was defeated and attempted to escape on another plane, however the place exploded. Many believed Bruce to be dead, though he returned in Tekken 5.

In Tekken 3, it was shown that Ogre had one of Bruce's moves, The Leg Bazooka, so it might be possible Bruce was one of the fighters who were attacked by Ogre, as the same phenomenon happened to Lee Chaolan, Baek Doo San, Jun Kazama and other Tekken 2 characters that did not appear on Tekken 3.

In Tekken 5, it was revealed that Bruce had been working for several special units, and he was currently working as a survival technical guidance instructor. He entered The King of Iron Fist Tournament 5 in order to test his skills once again.

After becoming reacquainted with Kazuya Mishima at the King of Iron Fist Tournament 5, Bruce Irvin decided to assist Kazuya with his scheme to take over G Corporation, and after they had succeeded Kazuya managed to control the corporation from behind closed doors.

G Corporation waged war with the Mishima Financial Group (MFG), and Bruce, as Kazuya's captain, led Kazuya's private corps into battle, fighting the MFG over the world. Soon afterwards, G Corporation made preparations to annihilate the MFG by placing an enormous bounty on Jin, and as anticipated, the MFG began to show signs of movement: the opening of King of Iron Fist Tournament 6 was announced. Bruce Irvin has entered the tournament to capture Jin…

Bruce appears as a playable character in the non-canon Tekken Tag Tournament. He also makes an appearance in Tekken: The Motion Picture when fighting Jack-2. Bruce breaks his fist against Jack-2's steel alloy and Jack-2 knocks him into the water.

Jun Kazama

Jun Kazama (風間 準 Kazama Jun?) is an officer of the WWWC, a wildlife protection organization. She is called "The Chosen One" by her relatives. She is highly psychic and can sense a mysterious power surrounding Kazuya Mishima, which turns out to be the Devil Gene threatening to turn him into a demonic version of himself. At the WWWC's orders, she sets out to arrest Kazuya, who smuggles environmentally-protected animals. When the King of Iron Fist Tournament 2 was coming to an end, Jun comes to the stunning realization that Kazuya's supernatural strength stems from Devil. But she cannot help being drawn to him by a mystic force beyond her control.

During the King of Iron Fist Tournament 2, Jun met Wang Jinrei who was looking for a fighter to quell the Devil and she defeated him. She then became pregnant by Kazuya Mishima. At the conclusion of the tournament, Devil left Kazuya and attempted to possess Jun's unborn child. Jun, however, proved to be superior and defeated Devil before fleeing to the forests of Yakushima, where she intended to raise her child away from evil and danger. She later gave birth to a baby boy, whom she named Jin. 15 years after the birth of her son, Jun sensed the approaching of Ogre and warned Jin to seek out his grandfather Heihachi Mishima should anything happen to her. One night, Ogre did indeed attack. Jun screamed for Jin to run away, but he wished to protect his beloved mother from Ogre and charged at him, but was well outmatched and was quickly knocked unconscious. When Jin woke up, the Kazamas' house had burned to the ground and Jun was missing. Jin searched frantically through the rubble, but couldn't find his mother anywhere. Jin was devastated and swore revenge on Ogre.

Jun appears in the alternative opening video of Tekken 3 alongside Kazuya Mishima and is a playable character in the non-canon PS2 game, Tekken Tag Tournament. She returns in the sequel, Tekken Tag Tournament 2, as playable character and Mid. Boss with updated character design, though because the game is non-canonical, it is unknown if her appearance is also canonical.

She appeared as a soul or a vision to her son Jin Kazama in his Tekken 4 ending. The vision or her soul persuaded Jin to spare Heihachi Mishima's life in honor of his mother.

In Tekken 6, Jun is seen and mentioned numerous times during the prologue for the Scenario Campaign Mode, which re-tells the main events of the previous Tekken games. In this prologue, Kazuya Mishima describes how he met Jun. He also describes how he found her fearless and mysterious. Jin then describes how he misses his mother and wishes she were still with him. He then goes on to explain that he defeated Ogre in honor of Jun.

Jun also appeared as the main character in Tekken the Motion Picture. The story focused on Jun as she tried to free Kazuya Mishima from the evil within him and stop him from killing his father, Heihachi Mishima.

In the 2010 live-action film Tekken, Jun is portrayed by Japanese actress Tamlyn Tomita.

In a recent interview, Harada confirmed that King 1, Armor King 1 and Kuma 1 have died.[7] Jun is officially "missing".

It is suspected that Jun may appear in the upcoming Street Fighter X Tekken, as director Ono said that she was the character from Tekken that he most wants to be included in the game.

Lei Wulong

During Tekken 2 and Tekken 3, Lei Wulong (雷 武龍 Rei Ūron?) was a respected police officer, dubbed "super cop", who put countless criminals behind bars. Just as Marshall Law bears a resemblance to Bruce Lee, Lei bears a strong resemblance to Jackie Chan who also plays a super cop in some of his movies. He was investigating the illegal hunting and trading of endangered animals done by the Mishima Zaibatsu during Tekken 2 and fought Bruce Irvin, who was working for Kazuya Mishima. Lei defeated Bruce, who escaped in an airplane, but it crashed.

In Tekken 4, he sets out to stop the assassin Nina Williams, who was sent by the mob to kill Steve Fox, in order to restore his waning reputation. He tracks down Nina and prevents her from killing Steve, but he could not stop her from escaping through a window. Upon chasing after Nina, he had her at gunpoint, but Steve intervened and saved Nina by tackling Lei to the ground.

Lei enters The King of Iron Fist Tournament 5 to search for Feng Wei, the man that has been destroying dojos in China and Japan. Asuka Kazama is also searching for Feng because he nearly killed her father, who was one of the dojo owners sought by Feng Wei. Lei informs her about Feng and that it is possible he might enter the fifth tournament. He is also attempting to destroy the Mishima Zaibatsu with the help of Steve Fox.

In pursuit of Feng Wei for his criminal offenses, the military sends Lei to Japan. As the trail for Feng Wei is unsuccessful, Lei is helpless and returns to Hong Kong. With China in utter chaos and riots happening frequently, Lei grew impatient. Lei knew the true reason for the riots were cause of the Mishima Zaibatsu. In an attempt to arrest Jin Kazama, Lei enters The King of the Iron Fist Tournament 6.

The fighting style of Lei Wulong is a kung fu style called: Five Animals Kung Fu. The style includes elements of tiger, crane, leopard, snake and dragon kung fu. Lei Wulong has also some techniques from Zui Quan (drunken fist). Lei Wulong's character is inspired by martial arts movie star Jackie Chan.

Lei Wulong appears briefly in the 2011 CGI movie Tekken: Blood Vengeance He appears on Xiaoyus phone sending her a text message informing her that Heihachi Mishima is not confirmed dead.

Roger and Alex

Kazuya Mishima took over the Mishima Zaibatsu from Heihachi. The Zaibatsu became more corrupt than ever under Kazuya's leadership and engaged in many illegal activities such as assassination, extortion, drug dealing and the smuggling of endangered species. Kazuya also recruited Doctor Boskonovitch to work for him. One of the projects he was commanded to work on was creating genetically engineered creatures. Through Boskonovitch, modified animals were created with DNA samples. Roger (ロジャー Rojā?) was created from Kangaroo DNA, whereas Alex (アレックス Arekkusu?) was created using DNA from Dromaeosaurid fossil samples.

Kazuya thought that Roger and Alex were worthless creations, and wanted to kill them. However, Roger and Alex managed to escape. They then met Armor King, who taught them to wrestle. Both Alex and Roger enter to fight in the Second Iron Fist Tournament. Jun Kazama infiltrated the second Iron Fist Tournament to arrest Kazuya, who is smuggling and experimenting on endangered species. She found Roger and Alex and quickly arranged for them to live out their lives in Australia, where they would be safe. Alex does not appear and is not mentioned in subsequent games, although is present in Street Fighter X Tekken in the background of the Dino Crisis stage.

Roger was kidnapped before Tekken 5, and his son, Roger Jr., enters The King of Iron Fist Tournament 5, aided by his mother, to find and save him. After his son Roger, Jr. found out that the reason Roger was "abducted" was so he could watch television for the rest of his life, he punches his father through the roof out of pure anger, realizing that his rescue mission was for nothing.

In Tekken 6, he and his family become a star of a comedy show titled, The Kangaroo Family. He was proud his son became an expert on fighting. His wife then showed pictures of him and his female fans, angering her. She then punches her husband through the roof out of pure anger because he was a playboy.

Introduced in Tekken 3

Bryan Fury

A known officer within Interpol, Bryan Fury (ブライアン・フューリー Buraian Fyūrī?) was shot and killed by gunmen during a shootout in Hong Kong.[8] His corpse is placed in the custody of Doctor Abel for scientific research and he is revived in order for him to be Abel's agent in obtaining classified information on raising a cyborg-led army.[8] Bryan enters the King of Iron Fist Tournament 3 in hopes of killing Yoshimitsu and capturing Dr. Boskonovitch, Abel's rival.

In Tekken 4, Bryan learns that his body is deteriorating and that he is close to death. Upon learning that his creator, Doctor Abel, has become head scientific advisor of the Mishima Zaibatsu, he grows to despise the Mishima Zaibatsu for taking Abel away from him, and Abel himself, for abandoning him. Bryan enters the tournament with the hope of becoming the head of the Mishima Zaibatsu, enabling him to order Doctor Abel to modify his body and prevent him from dying.

Despite not winning, Bryan eventually finds Abel, and uses his last ounce of strength to knock Abel out before losing consciousness. Later on, he wakes up in the laboratory of none other than Dr. Boskonovitch, who tells him that Yoshimitsu rescued him while robbing Heihachi Mishima's mansion, and promises to transfer Bryan's mind into a new body, although it will take a whole year. Bryan silently agrees to let Boskonovitch put him to sleep.

Bryan, however, awakens a month later and is told by Boskonovitch that his body was too complicated for himself to work with, but as a last resort, He had installed a perpetual power generator in him to grant him immortality. Upon learning this, Bryan attacks Boskonovitch and the Manji clan members assigned to guard him, and leaves the laboratory. Bryan enters the Tekken 5 tournament to test his performance with the generator installed, unaware that Yoshimitsu is pursuing him for revenge.

Yoshimitsu's repeated meddling hinders Bryan's hopes of unlocking the generator's true powers in the King of Iron Fist Tournament 5. Soon afterwards, Bryan's frustration reaches its pinnacle, and he begins to destroy everything in sight after abandoning the tournament. Driven by rage, he joins various battlefields over the world, indiscriminately leveling everything in his way into rubble. However, he soon grows tired of the same thing repeating itself countless times. Around this time, he catches wind of the Tekken 6 tournament. Seeing another chance to test the generator's true powers, he signs up.

Tekken 6: Bryan walks through a battlefield, carrying a rocket launcher and a Gatling gun in each hand. Discarding them both, he lifts a steel girder, and hurls it at a helicopter causing it to crash into him exploding. Bryan walks through the flames of the crash, unaffected, laughing.

Dr. Boskonovitch

Dr. Boskonovich (ドクター・ボスコノビッチ Dokutā Bosukonobitchi?) originally worked for the Mishima Zaibatsu. During the first Tekken, the Manji ninja clan (led by Yoshimitsu) raided the Mishima Zaibatsu's vault. During the raid, Yoshimitsu lost his arm and was found by Boskonovitch who helped him escape. He was kidnapped by Kazuya Mishima in the run-up to Tekken 2 and was forced to work for him. Some of the many projects involved the creation of the bio-weapons Roger and Alex and the completion of the Prototype Jack unit. He began the "Cold Sleep" project as a means of preserving his daughter's body (who seemingly died) by using Nina and Anna Williams as test subjects. After completing his tasks, and before being executed, Dr. Boskonovitch was rescued by Yoshimitsu. Nearly twenty years later, he contracted a rare disease that affects the spine. In order to cure himself and to revive his daughter, he needed the blood of the fighting god, Ogre. He turned to an old friend: Yoshimitsu for help. Yoshimitsu entered the Tekken 3 tournament and was successful in retrieving a sample of Ogre's blood after it had been killed by Jin Kazama.

During Tekken 4, Yoshimitsu found an injured Bryan Fury. He brought him to the doctor to save him. Boskonovitch explained to Bryan that he would mechanize him and allow him to be completely reborn in a new incarnation. Bryan lays supine in the chair and Boskonovitch held a gun-shaped device containing sleeping gas. Bidding him sweet dreams, he injected the gas into Bryan. Throughout, he spoke in a very gentle, paternal tone and was very calm. However, the doctor found Bryan's body too complex, and he instead installed a perpetual generator. Bryan proceeded to attack the doctor, as well as Manji Clan members who were with him. While the members were slain, Boskonovitch survived, though he was severely injured. In Tekken 6, he creates an android in his daughter's image.

Dr. Boskonovich is included as a secret bonus character in the console version of Tekken 3, and has the same ending as Yoshimitsu.

Forrest Law

The proud son of Marshall Law, Forrest Law (フォレスト・ロウ Foresuto Rou?) trains at his father's dojo to achieve Marshall's success and greatness. As a protective father, Marshall has forbidden his son from entering any contests outside the dojo.

Marshall's long-time friend and competitor, Paul Phoenix, visits once every few months to spar with Marshall. One day, when Paul arrived, Marshall was away supervising the building of a new dojo. Paul insisted that Forrest join him in some training exercises. Forrest declined, knowing that his father would disapprove. But Paul wouldn't take no for an answer.

Unaware of Marshall's restrictions on fighting, Paul suggested to Forrest that he join The King of Iron Fist Tournament 3. Marshall was enraged when he found out what happened. To him, it was as if his son had been kidnapped.

Forrest Law has not physically appeared in the Tekken series since Tekken 3 and Tekken Tag Tournament (though his name and character have been mentioned throughout). In Tekken 6, Forrest Law is seen as a cameo in the stage rustic Asia near the blue walls.

Hwoarang

Hwoarang (花郎 Faran?) (Hangul: 화랑) (Pronounced: Hwah-Rang) is a student of Baek Doo San and well-versed in the martial art of Tae Kwon Do. He used to gamble in street fighting. His fellow gang members would lose matches, then Hwoarang would step in and win. During one of these matches, he faced Jin Kazama, and he was forced to end in a draw. This was the first time that he had not succeeded in winning a fight. Hwoarang decided to train harder and never lose again. Upon visiting the dojang, he saw the dojang destroyed. It had been attacked by Ogre. Frustrated and angry, he entered The King of Iron Fist Tournament 3 to fight a conclusive battle with Jin, and to get revenge for his master.

In Tekken 4, Hwoarang was drafted into the South Korean army, notably assigned to a SpecOps unit (apparently rising to the rank of Sergeant). Longing for the rush of the hand-to-hand combat that he used to find only with street hustling, he went AWOL and became a fugitive of the South Korean government. He heard of The King of Iron Fist Tournament 4, and he decided to enter so that he could face his rival, Jin, in the tournament. He gets his chance to face Jin, though, then later apparently escaped and fights again but the fight was interrupted when a South Korean special forces squad (including his field commander) arrived and supposedly arrested Hwoarang.

In Tekken 5, while Hwoarang was awaiting court martial, he was taken to the South Korean embassy, where the ambassador issued him some urgent papers. After reading the papers, Hwoarang exclaimed, "I can't believe it! Are you sure this is correct?". It has been suggested that these papers were from Baek Doo San himself, informing Hwoarang that he survived Ogre's attack. Hwoarang completed his military service within two months, and then he entered The King of Iron Fist Tournament 5, eager to fight Jin Kazama. He was also asked to compete by his master, Baek Doo San.

Hwoarang faced Jin and defeated him. While Jin was lying on the ground, suddenly he roars paranormally and produces a gale that blows Hwoarang away. From Jin's back, two black wings spread and Jin rises with his devil form. Hwoarang is at his wits end - he is unable to fight back and soon he is knocked unconscious. When Hwoarang wakes up he finds himself in the hospital. Nearby he sees Baek standing as a visitor. Hwoarang hears the details from Baek. He ignores his nurse, tries to move from his bed, but falls down in order to beseech Baek to make him stronger. After leaving the Hospital, Hwoarang starts training with unprecedented devoutness in order to defeat the "paranormal" Jin. Thus, with the announcement of The King of Iron Fist Tournament 6, he prepares to enter the tournament.

His name is based on the 2nd Geup teul of the same name in ITF Tae Kwon Do.

Jin Kazama

Julia Chang

Julia Chang (ジュリア・チャン Juria Chan?) studies archeology in Michelle Chang's tribal lands. As a baby, Julia was deserted in the ruins of ancient Native American settlements, where Michelle found her. Michelle rescued Julia and brought her up with love. Julia loved Michelle and her adopted tribe and trained with Michelle to protect her beloved homeland. When Julia was 18, stories of sudden disappearances of famous martial artists all over the world began to reach the tribe. The tribe knew the cause, which was contained in the tribal legends, the legend of The God of Fighters. People in the tribe feared that Michelle's pendant, the key to Native American sacred treasure, had something to do with the disappearances. With apprehension spreading through the tribe, Michelle left for Japan to ask Heihachi Mishima why he had sought to take the pendant during the second tournament. Michelle hoped to learn about the origin of The God of Fighting's power. Michelle did not return. Julia suspected Heihachi and now seeks him out to discover the truth.

One day, she discovered that her native homeland was in danger of being covered by an encroaching desert; this was brought on by today's rapidly changing global ecosystem. Julia wanted to save her home, and she began her studies on ecosystem restoration. Julia joined an advanced genetic research group led by Professor T that studied the biological mechanism of reforestation. Professor T's research grant came almost exclusively from G Corporation. In fact, G Corporation's supercomputers located at their high security research center were used for computationally intensive biogenetic analysis and ecosystem modeling. All their project data was stored on G Corporation's file servers as well. Julia was absorbed in her daily research, waiting for the day when her work on ecosystem restoration would be complete. When her project was completed, she would save her home.

A few years after The King of Iron Fist Tournament 3, Michelle has gone missing, leaving Julia to continue where she left off. One day, Julia learned from Professor T that their project was on hold indefinitely. The Mishima Zaibatsu attacked G Corporation's high security research center and stole all their project data. Julia didn't know a thing about G Corporation's secret research projects nor did she care about them. Yet she knew that she had to retrieve her data from the Mishima Zaibatsu in order to save her home from becoming a desert in a few years time. Julia searched the net to gather information regarding the Mishima Zaibatsu. Her eyes lit up when she saw a web page announcing The King of Iron Fist Tournament 4.

Julia Chang continues her research on forest rejuvenation. Disappointed that she was unable to recover the reforestation data during the King Of Iron Fist Tournament 4, Julia returns home and resumes her research. She is reminded of the data that she was unable to retrieve each time her work hits a dead end. During one of these times when she came to a dead end in her work, she received a letter addressed to her in a foreign language. Attached is an announcement of The King of Iron Fist Tournament 5. In order to fulfill her hopes for forest rejuvenation, Julia decides to enter the fifth tournament. Along the way, she comes face to face with her friend, King, whom she attempts to talk out of taking revenge against Craig Marduk, but King does not listen.

Julia Chang was able to recover the lost Forest Rejuvenation data needed to turn the wasteland back into its original form. When Julia returned to her homeland of Arizona, she was met by the chief of their tribe and an old woman capable of hearing the voice of the Great Spirit. The old woman tells Julia of a premonition, 'If Jin Kazama and Kazuya Mishima were to engage in combat, it would bring about the resurrection of a demon from Hell.' Julia doubted the old woman's story, but on her way to The King of Iron Fist Tournament 6 due to it being sponsored by the Mishima Zaibatsu, she suddenly realizes what the premonition means and accepts it as true. Julia decides to personally enter the tournament to prevent it from happening.

She is set to appear in Street Fighter X Tekken.

Ling Xiaoyu

Ever since she was a little girl, Ling Xiaoyu (China: 凌 曉雨 Pinyin: Líng Xiǎoyǔ, Japanese: リン・シャオユウ Rin Shaoyuu) loved amusement parks. She was also tutored in martial arts from a young age by her relative Wang Jinrei. He believed that if she were more serious, she could achieve true greatness, but became frustrated by her careless attitude. While vacationing in Hong Kong with her family, she noticed a yacht bearing the name: “Mishima Zaibatsu”. Knowing that the Mishima Zaibatsu was rich and powerful, she decided to seek out Heihachi Mishima and make her dream a reality. Abandoning her family, Xiaoyu stowed away on the ship.

The ship’s security soon discovered her and informed Heihachi of her presence. By the time that Heihachi arrived on the scene, all of the Tekkenshu—Heihachi’s personal security force—that were aboard the ship had been beaten into unconsciousness and strewn about the deck. It looked as if the ship had been hit by a hurricane. Amidst the chaos, Heihachi found Xiaoyu. She threatened to beat him up if he did not accept her challenge. Amused by her juvenile antics, Heihachi roared with laughter and promised to build her theme park if she won his tournament. She enrolls at the Mishima Polytechnical School, and this is where she first meets both Jin Kazama and Miharu Hirano. Bringing along her old school's trained panda (aptly named "Panda"), Heihachi teaches her to fight, much like he had taught Kuma, so that Xiaoyu would have a bodyguard. This inspired Xiaoyu to see Heihachi as something of a grandfather toward her.

After the King of Iron Fist Tournament 3, Xiaoyu continued to live, study, and train as a ward of the Mishima Zaibatsu, but her life became boring and mundane, lacking any particular goals. Two years later, Xiaoyu was delivered an anonymous e-mail admonishing her not to trust Heihachi. The anonymous individual warned her that Heihachi posed an immediate danger to her life. At this time, Xiaoyu was a junior at the Mishima Polytechnical School and had become sick of her daily routines, but receiving this mysterious e-mail rejuvenated Xiaoyu’s passionate spirit.

Xiaoyu replied to the e-mail dozens of times. Although the sender never contacted her again, Xiaoyu became convinced that Jin, who had been missing since the previous Tekken tournament, had sent it to her. Around this same time, Heihachi announced the King of the Iron Fist Tournament 4. Hoping to reconnect with Jin and unmask the Mishima Zaibatsu’s evil deeds, Xiaoyu decided to enter the tournament.[9]

At the end of the previous tournament, Xiaoyu is rescued from the evil plans of Heihachi Mishima by Yoshimitsu, who then tells her about the tragic history of the Mishima family. Xiaoyu starts to believe that the root of all misfortune surrounding Jin and the Mishima family was Heihachi pitching Kazuya off the edge of a cliff when he was five years old. At this point, Xiaoyu believes it is her personal mission to save the tragic Mishima family. She wished that there were some way to turn back time and fix the past. Her prayers were answered when she heard an unnamed scientist boast that if he had the money, he could build a time machine. To obtain the money to fund the invention, Xiaoyu enters The King of the Iron Fist Tournament 5 to win the prize money.[9]

Ling Xiaoyu breathed a sigh of relief when she heard Heihachi had not truly died. However, as head of the Mishima Zaibatsu, Jin Kazama aims to take Heihachi’s life. Xiaoyu was going to try and stop Jin herself, but the Zaibatsu pushed towards militarization, making it difficult to approach Jin. The Mishima Zaibatsu’s declaration of war drew hostility from around the globe. When the King of Iron Fist Tournament 6 is announced, Ling Xiaoyu enters in the hope that she can save Jin’s soul from evil. Xiaoyu also has a crush on Jin due to their friendship when they were at school.

Xiaoyu appears as the main protagonist in the 2011 CGI film Tekken: Blood Vengeance and is voiced by Maaya Sakamoto the events of which happened between Tekken 5 and 6. Ling was forced by Anna Williams to act as a spy to gain more information on Shin Kamiya a former student from Mishima Polytechnic now studying in Kyoto International School. She befriends Alisa Bosconovitch in the process who assumes that Ling has feeling for Shin. The end of the film states that Jin Kazama wishes that someday she will be the one to defeat him.

Outside of the main series, Ling Xiaoyu has appeared in Tekken Tag Tournament, Tekken Card Challenge, Tekken Advance, Tekken Chance, Tekken Resolute, Tekken Bowl, Tekken Tag Tournament 2 and Tekken 3D: Prime Edition. Ling Xiaoyu also appears in Smash Court Tennis Pro Tournament 2 as an unlockable character. Her comic book appearances includes Tekken Forever, Tekken: Tatakai no Kanatani, and Online Tekken Comic. Chiaki Kuriyama was rumored to portray Ling in the movie version of Tekken. This rumor was disproved when the actress stated in an interview that she does not play a part in the movie.[10] However, Ling was portrayed by model Krystle in the Tekken Maxim Photoshoot for Maxim magazine. Ling Xiaoyu was one of five characters nominated in G4's 2005 "Video Game Vixens" awards show under the category of "Baddest Good Girl",[11] but lost to Final Fantasy X's Rikku.[12] GameDaily noted "It's impossible to dislike Ling Xiaoyu", describing her as both attractive and a strong character.[13] In a later article they named her one of their favorite female Asian video game characters, calling her "a joy to behold".[14] Dave Cook from Now Gamer listed a fight between Sakura Kasugano and Ling Xiaoyu as one of the fights he wished to see in Street Fighter X Tekken as while the two shared unsuitable outfits, the two are entertaining in terms of gameplay.[15] Neidel Crison from 1UP listed Xiaoyu as one of the characters he's hoping to see in Street Fighter X Tekken stating "She would be able to use her Art of Phoenix to avoid projectiles and, just like in Tekken, have numerous attack follow ups from the stance." SPECULATION: What We Know, And Want, For Street Fighter X Tekken

Xiaoyu is shown to have a bright personality. She is carfree at times but much like her grandfather, Wang Jinerei, she is often seroius with certain situations.Xiaoyu also show herself to be extremely serious when trying to find Jin and get him back to his old personality. She is even willing to help her friends even if it means risking her life, as her relationships with Alisa and Shin Kamiya in Tekken Blood Vengeance have shown, which would have resulted in her death at the hands of Kazuya and Heihachi if Jin had not protected her.She and Jin are both shown to care greatly for each other, though Jin is not even aware of Xiaoyu's crush on him.

Mokujin

Mokujin (木人?, lit. "wood(en) person") is inspired by the Jackie Chan movie Shaolin Wooden Men. He is a wooden training dummy who comes to life in the presence of powerful evil. He has no fighting style of his own, and instead swaps between the fighting styles of the other characters featured in the game. At the beginning of a fight, Mokujin will assume another character's fighting style at random, and uses a wooden sword when he emulates Yoshimitsu, or a tail when emulating Roger. In this aspect, mastering Mokujin requires mastery of all the other Tekken characters' movesets.

Mokujin was awakened when Ogre, the God of Fighting, was released. After Jin Kazama defeated Ogre in The King of Iron Fist Tournament 3, Mokujin grew lifeless once more, but he had a smile on his face (stated in Mokujin's Tekken 5 Prologue). With the awakening of another powerful evil entity (Jinpachi Mishima), Mokujin came to life once more. Following the defeat of Jinpachi Mishima, Mokujin once again became lifeless.

He appears in the multi-company crossover game Cross Edge as a training dummy in the game's practice battle mode under the name Woodman.

Ogre

Ogre (オーガ Ōga?) is first mentioned in Heihachi Mishima's character profile. It states that many years after Heihachi had reclaimed control of the Mishima Zaibatsu, he formed the Tekken Force, his own military group. One of the missions of the Tekken Force was to search an ancient temple located somewhere in Mexico. Soon after arriving there, Heihachi learned that his entire force had been obliterated by Ogre. Heihachi, having witnessed the power of Ogre, sought to capture it in hopes of creating the ultimate life form.

According to official canon, Ogre attacked many world-renowned martial arts masters around the world. Because many characters from previous Tekken titles were not featured in Tekken 3, it is believed that their disappearance is due to being a victim of Ogre. This is supported by the fact that Ogre's fighting style is completely formed by other character's fighting styles, many of which were those who did not appear among the cast of playable characters in Tekken 3, such as Wang Jinrei, Baek Doo San, Bruce Irvin, Lee Chaolan, and Kunimitsu. It was later revealed, however, that the only Tekken fighters that Ogre attacked/killed were Baek Doo San (whom he did not actually kill), the original King, and Jun Kazama, the mother of Jin Kazama. It is unknown if Kunimitsu was a victim of Ogre as she has not been featured in the plot of a Tekken game since Tekken 2.

Sometime when Jin was fifteen, his mother warned him of an approaching evil (Ogre) and told him to seek refuge with his grandfather, Heihachi. Jin, wishing to protect his mother, tried to defend her from Ogre, but was knocked unconscious. When Jin awoke, he found his home burned to the ground and his mother nowhere to be seen.

Jin fled to his grandfather, Heihachi, as Jun had previously instructed. Heihachi made the decision to train the boy to become a powerful fighter, giving Jin hopes of exacting revenge on Ogre. Heihachi's goal, however, was to make Jin powerful enough to lure Ogre to him.

Eventually, Heihachi announced the King of Iron Fist Tournament 3 as a way to attract many powerful fighters. As planned, Ogre appeared at the tournament. Jin won all of the rounds and he faced Heihachi and defeated him. After he defeated Heihachi, he left him for Ogre to absorb his energy, allowing Ogre to unleash his full power (True Ogre).

Ogre's second form (known as True Ogre in subsequent games), is capable of using all of its techniques from his previous form as well as the abilities to teleport, fly, and breathe fire. True Ogre was defeated by Jin, and a white orb of light was emitted from its body as it dissolved.

Although Ogre was not present in the fourth game, he appears briefly in Heihachi's prologue. This explains that Heihachi devised a new plan to make himself the ultimate warrior by using the genes of Ogre that were collected after the fight with Jin. But Ogre's genome could only be integrated with the "Devil Gene", which Heihachi did not possess. He knew that Jin and the resurrected Kazuya did, so he announced The King of Iron Fist Tournament 4 to lure both of them out.

Ogre appears only in the minigame, Devil Within, as a boss. The plot details events that occur during the two month period between Tekken 4 and Tekken 5. After Jin left Hon-Maru after the final battle in The King of Iron Fist Tournament 4, he heard that his mother, Jun, was still alive at G Corporation. When Jin traveled to their labs, he found no trace of his mother, but instead discovered that G Corporation had either resurrected Ogre, or had simply discovered another Ogre. Beneath the labs were the remains of another ancient temple, where Jin battled True Ogre once again. Ogre fled to a deeper part of the ruins, and Jin followed it.

The deeper ruins are depicted as an other-worldly crystal-like labyrinth. The enemies Jin contended with were monsters and mutants, who were likely minions of Ogre or guardians of the ruins. The boss of stage four is a giant contraption that uses a large white orb to attack. After Jin destroys this, it is revealed that he unwittingly broke the seal containing Ogre.

During the game's final stage, Jin battles True Ogre once again. Once it is defeated, it reveals yet another transformation. This form had new abilities to create giant whirlwinds and crush Jin under its large body, along with all of its previously used techniques. According to the plot, Jin overcomes Ogre and is attacked by Jack robots, causing him to transform into Devil Jin.

Panda

Panda (パンダ Panda?) is cared for at Ling Xiaoyu's high school. To participate in the tournament, Xiaoyu moved to the Mishima Polytechnical School in Japan. Heihachi taught Panda "Advanced Bear Fighting" so that she could act as a bodyguard for Xiaoyu during the tournament. Although Kuma is fond of Panda, Panda dislikes him and keeps her distance.

When you select Panda for use in the game, her preview image shows up on screen as Kuma. She did not receive her own preview icon or image until Tekken Tag Tournament. The same also applies to Tiger Jackson.

Panda is given her own story. In her prologue, it explains Panda as protecting Xiaoyu as her bodyguard and tending to her concerns. In her Tekken 4 ending, she hands over control of the Mishima Zaibatsu to Xiaoyu, and then she calls Xiaoyu over to the tournament ring. She then explains to Xiaoyu that she has to search for Jin Kazama on her own.

After the conclusion of The King of Iron Fist Tournament 4, Ling Xiaoyu had been feeling depressed. Panda thought long and hard about how she could make Xiaoyu happy again. Panda decided that the best approach would be to find Jin Kazama. Panda searched for Jin, but she was unable to find him. One day, Xiaoyu came to her excited. "Panda, I've decided to enter The King of Iron Fist Tournament 5, and I need your help once again". Panda didn't quite understand Xiaoyu's reason for entering the tournament, but she decided to help if it would make her happy. Later Panda was relieved to learn Heihachi Mishima still lived, but only briefly—her moment of relief past by quickly without notice with the sudden announcement of The King of Iron Fist Tournament 6.

Tiger Jackson

Introduced in Tekken Tag Tournament

Tetsujin

Tetsujin (鉄人 lit. iron-person) is a secret character that debuts in Tekken Tag Tournament who appears to be a silver version of Mokujin. When hit he makes metallic noises indicating that he's made out of metal. Tetsujin also appears in Tekken 5 and Tekken 5 Dark Resurrection as a training dummy during practice mode.

Tetsujin's Tekken Tag ending shows him training a legion of Mokujins.

Unknown

Unknown (アンノウン Announ?) appears to be a tortured soul which has been enslaved by the "Forest Demon" (which takes the form of a wolf-like appearance and appears behind her in fights, controlling and mimicking her actions). Unknown also has a symbol tattooed on her upper right arm which resembles that of Jin Kazama's, and can use different fighting styles, though her fighting style defaults to that of Jun Kazama. She does have her own fighting style in Tekken Tag Tournament 2, though it resembles Jun's. She is the final boss in both Tekken Tag Tournament and Tekken Tag Tournament 2.

Unknown appears as a woman with short, black hair and glowing yellow eyes, while in Tekken Tag 2 that her eyes doesn't glow, but her eye colors does change and has a similar eyes as her son's devil form. Her default 'costume' appears to have her otherwise nude body mostly covered in black, shiny body paint or oil, as if she had been submerged in it to her chest. Her second, alternate costume shows her dressed in the burnt, ripped remains of a white dress, with bandages wrapped around her arms, shins and instep. Some people believe that Unknown is actually Jun Kazama that was enslaved by the "Forest Demon". This is further supported with the fact that Jun transforms into Unknown at Final Stage of Tekken Tag Tournament 2.

In the non-canon PS2 game Tekken Tag Tournament, her ending shows her finally defeating the Forest Demon and therefore freeing herself. It is also worth noticing that Unknown is the only character in Tekken Tag Tournament to feature an ending sequence not rendered in the game's engine, instead using full-motion video.

Introduced in Tekken 4

Christie Monteiro

Combot

Combot (コンボット Konbotto?) is a multi general purpose robot created by Lee Chaolan (under the guise of Violet) to enter in the King of Iron Fist Tournament 4. Combot is programmed to do a wide variety of things, from household chores to military action. This design was made to be the ultimate fighting machine and was programmed to learn every fighter's style as it progressed through the tournament. It was also used to increase the chance of Lee gaining the Mishima Zaibatsu if Heihachi were to be defeated by Combot. Unfortunately, the prototype was rushed due to time constraints and a few bugs were left in Combot's data. Because of this, whenever Combot is powered up, he can only utilize one opponent's fighting style at a time during game play, and switches through them randomly from match to match, it's unknown to the player which fighting style it is using until the fight starts, though a player can tell which style it is by watching it's movements before the fight starts. For some characters, it is immediately apparent when Combot is using their fighting style; if imitating Yoshimitsu, it will brandish a sword, and if imitating King, will have a tail comparable in length to King's. Essentially, Combot is the Tekken 4 version of Mokujin.

Craig Marduk

Craig Marduk (クレイグ・マードック Kureigu Mādokku?) was an undefeated Vale Tudo fighter for four years as a professional. When he was involved in a minor scandal, his backers were only too glad to release him. Imprisoned in Arizona for a homicide accidentally committed in a bar fight, Marduk was suddenly released thanks to the influence of an anonymous benefactor. Upon his release he received a mystery package containing a newspaper clipping about the King of Iron Fist Tournament 4, and an airline ticket. Unknown to Marduk, the man he killed in the brawl was Armor King. Swearing revenge, Armor's protege, King, paid for Marduk's release using money he earned in wrestling tournaments. He had also sent the newspaper clipping and airline ticket, so that he could exact revenge on Marduk when he entered the tournament. The two met at the tournament, where King sufficiently defeated him, leaving Marduk hospitalized. Later, King paid a visit to Marduk in the hospital to finish him off, but instead spared him after noticing a photograph next to Marduk's bed showing Craig and his family.

Unable to accept defeat, Marduk trained his body to its limits. Wearing Armor King's black jaguar mask, Marduk entered a Vale Tudo tournament and challenged King after emerging undefeated. The two fought in The King of Iron Fist Tournament 5, but victory and defeat eluded both fighters, and, in defeat, they found friendship. While returning to the waiting room, Craig was attacked. Catching only a glimpse of the attacker's back as he fled, Craig could have sworn he looked exactly like the man he was convicted of killing, Armor King. Determined to learn the assailant's true identity, Craig set out with King to participate in The King of Iron Fist Tournament 6.

The ending movies of King and Craig and the second ending movie of Armor King respectively seem to be a whole video divided into three parts:

  • In King's ending movie, King is seen walking into what seems to be his dressing room towards a picture of Armor King. He looks at it for a while and accidentally drops it while putting it back, breaking the frame. The broken frame reveals another picture, which was behind the first picture, which King picks up. The movie ends after he is seen to seemingly be surprised after seeing the picture, which is seen to have two Armor Kings.
  • In Craig's ending movie, It's a rainy day as Craig is seen digging what seems to be Armor King's grave while saying "He should be dead." After opening his coffin and seemingly seeing Armor King's dead body, he says, "So then," and turns around to point at the assailant, who is dressed like Armor King, while continuing, "Who are you?", ending the movie.
  • In Armor King's second ending movie, Craig is seen pointing at Armor King as he was towards the end of his ending movie. King then walks into the scene and stands beside Craig while growling, which is translated to be, "Just exactly, who are you?" to which Armor King replies with a growl that is translated to be "I am Armor King. No one else." Craig replies, shouting, "Don't lie to me! I killed him with my own hands!" Armor King then replies with growls, translated to be "I am Armor King. But so was my brother, whom you killed!" and points at Craig. Lightning is seen in the background and thunder is then heard as if to show the level of Armor King's anger. Armor King then continues, still pointing at Craig, by growling, "I...I can never forgive you!" as the lightning and thunder reappear.

Craig Marduk's nationality seems to have been retconned between Tekken 4 and Tekken 5, going from American to Australian. He does not speak with an Australian accent, however, suggesting that Craig may have expatriated.

He is set to appear in Street Fighter X Tekken.

Miharu Hirano

Miharu Hirano (平野 美晴 Hirano Miharu?) is an alternate costume for Ling Xiaoyu in Tekken 4, and is also her best friend in the game's storyline. She shares the same moves as Xiaoyu, as well as her prologue, epilogue and win animations. She wears a school uniform identical to Xiaoyu's and has short, feathered dark red hair.

Steve Fox

Steve Fox (スティーブ・フォックス Sutību Fokkusu?) was conceived in a lab in Australia; his mother is Nina Williams. After Nina failed to assassinate Kazuya Mishima, Heihachi Mishima captured her and used her as a test subject for cryogenic sleep studies. She gave birth to Steve during this time through in-vitro fertilization.

As an undefeated Boxing champion, Steve had everything he wanted; the only exception being information about his past. One day, the mafia organized a fight which he was supposed to lose. Refusing to co-operate, Steve won the fight instead. Pursued by the mafia, Steve fled to America, but came to a realization that no matter where he went, the mafia would always track him and he would never learn about his past. He entered The King of Iron Fist Tournament 4 to put himself back into the limelight and gain the answers he sought. Despite failing to win the tournament, he learned that Nina Williams is his mother. Along the way, he also cooperated with Lei Wulong, who was also trying to break up the same crime syndicate. Before he was known as a hot director, actor Ezra J. Stanley lent his voice for Steve Fox, doing a British accent for the American release of Tekken 4.

Two months after the conclusion of the fourth tournament, The King of Iron Fist Tournament 5 was announced. Steve entered the tournament, this time focusing on the destruction of the Mishima Zaibatsu's research institute, vowing that "The Mishima Zaibatsu will never make another monster like me!" Despite not winning the fifth tournament, Steve found and destroyed the research institute of the Mishima Zaibatsu, and finally settled a long-time feeling of resentment. Steve was intent on returning to the world of boxing again, but the majority of major boxing meets are cancelled by the war that broke out all over the world. Steve, who knew no other trade than the boxing ring, had effectively lost his job and his passion, and went into depression. Soon after, he received an invitation to train together with Marshall Law and Paul Phoenix. Steve, who liked the idea of training in a martial art other than boxing, accepted.

In the 2010 live-action film Tekken, Steve is portrayed by British singer/actor Luke Goss. In contrast to the video game character, this version of Steve is an older, retired fighter with no blood relation to Nina. He witnesses Jin Kazama defeat Marshall Law in battle and becomes Jin's sponsor for the Iron Fist tournament, also becoming a friend and mentor to the young fighter. He is killed by Jackhammers while breaking Jin and the other imprisoned participants out of their holding cells.

According to IGN, at one point during development Steve Fox was once known as Dean Earwicker. He is also said to have been seen in a Street Fighter X Tekken trailer.[16]

Introduced in Tekken 5 and Tekken 5: Dark Resurrection

Armor King (II)

The second Armor King (アーマー・キング Āmā Kingu?) is the younger brother of the first Armor King. During The King of Iron Fist Tournament 5, Armor King attacks Craig Marduk and vanishes, but resurfaces later on to participate in the King of Iron Fist Tournament 6, unaware that both King and Marduk are pursuing. King, looking to find out who is dishonoring the dead by impersonating his mentor, and Marduk, wondering if it was a ghost from his past.

During the sixth tournament, the two confront him, only to learn that he is the younger brother of the original whom Craig Marduk had killed two years prior. King learns this by finding a photograph of the two Armor Kings together, and Marduk finds out after checking the first Armor King's grave, confirming that the man he killed is indeed still dead and that his attacker is another man.

Asuka Kazama

Asuka Kazama (風間 飛鳥 Kazama Asuka?) was taught Kazama-style Traditional Martial Arts (based on aikido and other traditional japanese martial arts) by her father, a dojo-master near Osaka, ever since she was a small girl. By nature, Asuka believes very strongly in justice and devotes much of her free time to being a vigilante of sorts, breaking up fights nearby. At the time in which the game takes place, Asuka is seventeen years old and is a high school student (same high school as Ling Xiaoyu). She is also Jin Kazama's cousin.

Asuka returned home from school one day to find that her dojo was in shambles. The students there had been beaten severely and her father was so badly hurt that he had to be taken to the hospital. In the next several days, a detective from Hong Kong, Lei Wulong, came to her and explained that the culprit would likely be entering The King of Iron Fist Tournament 5. In order to get her personal revenge and redeem her dojo, Asuka enters the tournament as well.

She was unable to find Feng Wei, the man responsible for the attack, and as the tournament ended, she returned to her calm and normal life. However, her life didn't stay peaceful for long, as Asuka discovered that she was related to Jin Kazama, and he was the one responsible for the terrible war occurring all over the world. She enters The King of Iron Fist Tournament 6 in order to bring Jin to accountability. However, as the game progresses, Asuka shares little interaction or interest in stopping Jin, and when someone completes the game with Asuka, her ending leads her into another dispute with her rival Lili.

Feng Wei

As a boy, Feng Wei (馮威 Fen Wei?) was raised as a disciple by a Chinese Kenpo master who was so skilled he was known as Shinken 神拳 (literally God Fist). At 20 years of age, Feng was the best student his school had ever seen. When his master scolded him for fighting outside the dojo, Feng killed him. Now Feng seeks the secrets of the God Fist scrolls stolen by the Mishima family, and enters the King of Iron Fist Tournament 5 to do so. Asuka Kazama and Lei Wulong have connections with this ruthless, merciless Chinese Kenpo fighter. Feng severely beat Asuka's father and destroyed his dojo in his search for the scrolls. Lei is trying to capture Feng for his similar actions in China.

Feng Wei was successful in retrieving the treasured "God Fist" scroll from the Mishima Zaibatsu during The King of Iron Fist Tournament 5. The scroll merely stated, "Destroyer of all styles, the one true ultimate style, it transcends the power of the Dragon God, which exceeds all human ability." Dumbfounded, Feng Wei receives information about The King of Iron Fist Tournament 6, and, seeking more information, he once again looks towards Japan.

Jinpachi Mishima

Jinpachi Mishima (三島 仁八 Mishima Jinpachi?) was the original founder of the Mishima Zaibatsu and the father of Heihachi, grandfather of Kazuya and great grandfather of Jin. Jinpachi was trapped under the Honmaru by his son, Heihachi, for decades. After the Honmaru had blown up by a Jack-4 robot in attempt to kill Heihachi, Jinpachi, filled with evil energy, was able to set himself free. Regaining control of the Mishima Zaibatsu, Jinpachi announced King of Iron Fist Tournament 5.[17][18]

He is the final boss in Tekken 5 and Tekken 5: Dark Resurrection. However, he did not become a playable character until the PlayStation 3 version of Tekken 5: Dark Resurrection.

Lili

Raven

An international intelligence agent considered highly skilled and iron-hearted, codename Raven (レイヴン Reivun?). Apart from a scar in the shape of an "X" on his face, his details are unknown, though according to the European Tekken 6 website, Raven is Canadian. Raven entered the fifth tournament to find out who or what is behind the event. Raven makes his first appearance in the opening movie for Tekken 5, as he witnesses the attack on Hon-Maru by Jack-4s while on a mission to look into the Mishima Zaibatsu and G Corporation, as well as the subsequent explosion. It seems that he is the first one to report of Heihachi Mishima's supposed demise.

After The King of Iron Fist Tournament 5, Raven encounters Heihachi Mishima, who was presumed to be dead, and fought him. Before a victor could be decided, Raven received orders to return to headquarters, and he had to withdraw from battle. After that encounter, the battle between both the Mishima Zaibatsu and G-Corporation intensified. In order to prevent any further losses, Raven is sent to investigate the Mishima Zaibatsu once again via The King Of Iron Fist Tournament 6.

Raven also appears a co-star in the Scenario Campaign mode of Tekken 6. Raven first appears as an enemy boss and is defeated by Lars Alexandersson and Alisa Boskonovitch. Later on, he returns to help Alisa and Lars escape from a rampaging NANCY robot. Once Alisa turns on Lars at the order of Jin Kazama, he becomes the CPU partner in Alisa's place for the final two stages of the mode. He joins Lars to chase down Jin in the desert. With his help, Lars is able to defeat Azazel and Alisa. After Jin defeats Azazel for good, he accompanies Lars with Alisa's body back to Lee Chaolan's robotics company. Lars attempts to thank Raven for his help but he declines, offering the ominous warning "Tomorrow, we might be enemies," before leaving Lars. Following the credits, Raven returns to the site where Azazel's temple once was to find Jin Kazama's half-buried body lying in the sand.

Many have noted Raven's similarity to characters played by actor Wesley Snipes. His dyed hairstyle is similar to the character Simon Phoenix from Demolition Man and his black clothing, sunglasses, and personality are reminiscent of the title character of Blade. However, when Electronic Gaming Monthly asked if the similarities were intentional, Namco stated that they simply wanted a true ninjutsu practitioner and a "cool black guy" for a character and that the similarities were purely coincidental.

In the 2010 live-action film Tekken, Raven is portrayed by Darrin Henson. He participates in the Iron Fist tournament where he defeats Eddy Gordo and later gives Jin Kazama some words of advice and encouragement before his fight with Bryan Fury.

Sergei Dragunov

A member of Spetsnaz, Sergei Dragunov (セルゲイ・ドラグノフ Serugei Doragunofu?) is considered the very symbol of fear on the battlefield whose overwhelming fighting prowess has earned him the title "The White Angel of Death". Involved in the investigation of an unknown body that fell to Earth in Siberia, Dragunov receives special orders presumably regarding Devil Jin, and enters the King of Iron Fist Tournament 5 in order to carry them out. His precise motivations and the true nature of his orders are unknown. In an in-game cutscene before his sub-boss fight against Raven, the agent says that he is "on to your [Dragunov's] organization." Tekken 6, however, reveals that he was unsuccessful in finding Jin, and he returned to Russia, where he is told that the chaos and on-going war all over the world has been caused by Jin himself, now the new owner of the Mishima Zaibatsu. Dragunov is ordered to participate in the King of Iron Fist Tournament 6 to destroy the Mishima Zaibatsu.

In the 2010 live-action film Tekken, Sergei is portrayed by martial arts actor Anton Kasabov. Like in the games, he is mute. He participates in the Iron Fist tournament, and is rather brutally defeated and killed in combat by Bryan Fury.

Introduced in Tekken 6 and Tekken 6: Bloodline Rebellion

Alisa Bosconovitch

Azazel

Azazel (アザゼル Azazeru?) made his debut in Tekken 6 as the primary antagonist. He is most likely named after the famed demon in Judeo-Christianity, Azazel.

Little is known about Azazel's history, other than that he is the embodiment of the ultimate evil guarded in a tomb by Zafina, set to be released after the clash of "two evil stars". He is also the source that created the devil gene within the Mishima bloodline, as evidenced by the tattoos on his chest, which resemble Jin's in his devil form.

Azazel looks much like the Egyptian god Set, with blue-gray skin, a large, spiked tail used for attacking, and huge spikes of ice/crystal growing out of his forearms. He also wears an Egyptian ceremonial headdress and loincloth.

Like many supernatural entities before him, Azazel appears to own the advantage of superpowered abilities over his opponents. These include a powerful stun attack (similar to Jinpachi Mishima), and eye lasers (similar to Devil Jin, Devil, and Angel). He also has the ability to summon giant crystals from the ground to attack his opponents. He can also summon scarabs to attack opponents and parts of his body get destroyed after taking too much damage.

Azazel appears in the final stage of the Scenario Campaign mode in the console versions of Tekken 6. As it turns out, it was Jin's motive all along to bring forth the creature so he may fight and defeat it (and subsequently end himself in the confrontation). By causing chaos across the globe, Jin awoke the physical form of the monster (Azazel's spirit was already resonating within Jin's psyche, being triggered by his struggle with his father Kazuya; hence the prophecy of "two evil stars"). Azazel eventually awakens but is defeated by Lars Alexandersson and Raven. After they return outside and confront Jin, Jin reveals that Azazel can only be vanquished by someone carrying the Devil Gene: indeed, Azazel erupts from underneath the ground, stronger than before. However, Jin begins to power himself up with his Devil form, making him immune to Azazel's attacks. Jin rushes towards Azazel and punches his fist straight through Azazel's chest, sending the both of them plummeting into the temple ruins below. Azazel's fate is not shown, but it is implied later that he is indeed gone.

Bob

Bob (ボブ Bobu?), full name Robert Richards, is a fighter who hails from America as a martial arts legend. However, due to being unable to defeat larger opponents, Bob disappears from the fighting world and remains in hiding for a few years, with many wondering about his whereabouts.

With The King of Iron Fist Tournament 6 drawing near, Bob finally returns, and stuns everyone with his new figure, that of a morbidly obese man. Though Bob claims to have engineered his body to increase his weight and strength while maintaining his speed, few believe him, and most of his fans lose their faith and respect for him.

In order to test his new power and regain his popularity, Bob enters The King of Iron Fist Tournament 6.´Tekken developer and Executive Producer of Tekken 6 Katsuhiro Harada describes Bob as "a freestyle karate practitioner from the U.S."[19]

Bob ranked 10th on GameDaily's top 10 ugliest game characters list.[20] He is set to appear in the upcoming Street Fighter X Tekken.

Lars Alexandersson

Leo

Leo (レオ Reo?), full name Eleonore Kliesen (エレオノール・クリーゼン Ereonōru Kurīzen?)[21], was part of a very talented family. Her father was a world-famous spelunker, while her mother served as a G Corporation executive. Although Leo's father disappeared during an expedition when she was a child, she still wanted to follow in the family tradition and become a spelunker. Leo possessed a strong sense of character, thanks to a proper upbringing. Life was pleasant and relatively uneventful until one fateful day when her mother was killed by an unknown assailant. Depressed and filled with grief, she became incensed when the police called-off their investigation quickly and without explanation. She vowed to find the truth. During her investigation, the G Corporation's Kazuya Mishima materialized as a person of interest. The G Corporation was popularized at the time as a world hero, making it difficult to get close to Kazuya, and it looked as though Leo's quest had reached an insurmountable impasse. It was at this time that news of the Mishima Zaibatsu-sponsored The King of Iron Fist Tournament began to spread. Leo learned that Kazuya Mishima was scheduled to appear in person at the event. Realizing that this may be the only chance to take revenge against Kazuya, she decided to enter the tournament.

Until Katushiro Harada revealed Leo's full name and gender at the Tekken: Blood Vengeance premiere in Cologne, her gender had been left ambiguous to the point that in the game itself, Leo was referred to only by name or gender-neutral terms and had no costumes revealing any portion of the torso.

Miguel Caballero Rojo

After being forced to leave his home by his parents at the age of 15 for constantly starting fights, Miguel Caballero Rojo (ミゲル・カバジェロ・ロホ Migeru Kabajero Roho?) finds sanctuary at a bar. His sister, the only person whom he trusted or loved, visited him secretly behind their parents back. Miguel cared deeply for her, to the point where he even considered killing her fiance, but not wanting to break his sister's heart he decided against it.

On Miguel's sister's wedding day, a group of jets attacked the church, destroying it and killing her. Miguel's investigations led him to realize that the attack was ordered by the Mishima Zaibatsu, and driven by anger, he entered the recently announced King of Iron Fist Tournament 6 to find answers from the Zaibatsu's CEO, Jin Kazama. Tekken developer and Executive Producer of Tekken 6 Katsuhiro Harada describes Miguel as "a brawler from Spain."[19] His appearance resembles a bullfighter, yet he has no formal martial arts training.

In the 2010 live-action film Tekken, Miguel is portrayed by Roger Huerta. He is the only Tekken 6 character to appear in the film, and is renamed "Miguel Rojo". He participates in the Iron Fist tournament and faces Jin Kazama. Despite holding his own rather formidably, he is defeated by Jin.

NANCY-MI847J

NANCY-MI847J is an elephantine robot and security unit who is under orders from Jin Kazama. It is very difficult to destroy and possesses an arsenal of weapons. Like Azazel, NANCY is not an unlockable character. NANCY only appears in Arcade Mode and Time Attack Mode as a bonus round before the player fights Jin Kazama.

There appear to be multiple NANCY robots, evidenced by the fact that Lars and Alisa encounter a hostile NANCY during a cinematic in Scenario Campaign. This NANCY is destroyed by Raven during the same cutscene. Another NANCY is actually made available to use in one level of Scenario Campaign (the initial infiltration of G Corporation's headquarters). The player is able to use many of NANCY's abilities to fight the legions of enemies in the G Corporation lobby and courtyard.

Zafina

Zafina (ザフィーナ Zafīna?) is a guardian to the tomb of a royal family near a village that has existed for many centuries. The sealed grave is believed to protect the well being of the tribe. Many have tried to enter the tomb but Zafina, appointed its guardian by the village elders, has single-handedly defeated them all. One day the village elders prophesize that when two "evil stars" meet, the seal on the graves will be broken and the world will end. Following the ideals of astrology, Zafina leaves the village to see if the world is really going to end. Her official title of a star-seer hints at a possible link to Zoroastrianism, a possible hint that Zafina's country of origin is Iran. The "star-seer" falls well with the Biblical status of Azazel, known as Lucifer in the Bible, who is called "The morning Star" alluding to her Semitic/Arabian origins. The EU website unofficially cited her nationality as Indian though this has since been amended as unknown due to comments made by Harada calling her Middle-eastern. Given the fact that Zafina is an Arabic name, her links to ancient astrology and the Tekken executive producer saying she is from the Middle East, one could possibly draw the best conclusion she is from Egypt. Her strong relationship as the guardian of (The Arabic "devil") Azazel's temple supports the notion that she herself is Arabic. The Tekken developer and Executive Producer of Tekken 6 Katsuhiro Harada describes her as "a female character from the Middle East who uses ancient assassination arts" and likened her moves to those of a spider.[19]

Introduced in Tekken Tag Tournament 2

Jaycee

Jaycee (ジェイシー Jeishī?) is a mysterious luchadora woman and the newest known addition to the cast of Tekken. She is seen on the trailer as a wrestler who team tags with Armor King. Series producer Katsuhiro Harada has confirmed that Jaycee is actually a pun on the name Julia Chang in a lucha mask taking the place of a friend of hers who was injured in a fighting accident.

It was also stated that removing her mask in the games customization feature will change her name back to Julia ingame.[22]
