Chalus (Persian: چالوس, also Romanized as Chālūs, Chaloos, and Chalous)^[1] is a city in and the capital of Chalus County, Mazandaran Province, Iran. At the 2006 census, its population was 44,618, in 12,791 families.^[2]

Location

Chalus's neighbour counties are Noshahr in the east, Tonekabon in the west in Mazandaran province and Tehran province in the south.

People in Chalus often eat smoked whitefish.
