Brown who got into horses at an early age at an upstate New York track. He was an understudy to U.S. Racing Hall of Fame trainer Robert Frankel. At the time of the 2007 Breeders' Cup, Frankel returned to Cafifornia to attend to his sick dog and Chad Brown stepped in to take his place, saddling Ginger Punch to a win in the Breeders' Cup Distaff.[1]

In November 2007 Brown went out on his own. He picked up his first Breeders' Cup victory with a 2-year-old filly named Maram (in Arabic it means Destiny) who held off Heart Shaped to win the inaugural $1 million Breeders' Cup Juvenile Fillies Turf by a nose at Santa Anita Park in 2008. Earlier in the day, Brown's grandfather, Elmer Maynard, was laid to rest in his hometown of Mechanicville, New York.[citation needed]

Chad Brown competed in his first Saratoga Race Course meet in 2008 and won with the very first horse he entered when Star Player won won the first race on opening day. Brown went on to win a total of 6 races during the 36 day meet. Two days later, he won with a first time starter named Midtown Bullet. During that same meet, Chad Brown started a two year old filly in a $75,000 Maiden Claiming race, named Maram. Maram went on to win the Miss Grillo (Grade 3) at Belmont Park which earned her a spot in the Breeders Cup Juvenile Filly Turf at Santa Anita Park. Maram beat a star packed group (at 11-1) to earn Chad his first Grade 1 victory, with a purse of over $1,000,000.
