Announced in 2007, construction began on the San Salvador El Salvador Temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (LDS Church) in September 2008. Ground was broken for the temple and the site was dedicated by Don R. Clarke, of the Seventy, Area President of the Central America on 20 September 2008. When completed, the temple will be the sixth temple of the church in Central America.
