San Salvador El Salvador Temple

Announced in 2007, construction began on the San Salvador El Salvador Temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (LDS Church) in September 2008. Ground was broken for the temple and the site was dedicated by Don R. Clarke, of the Seventy, Area President of the Central America on 20 September 2008. When completed, the temple will be the sixth temple of the church in Central America. This is the first temple that the church has built in El Salvadorcite news|url=http://www.ldschurchnews.com/cn/view/1,1721,500006955,00.html |title=Ground broken for El Salvador temple |work=Church News |publisher=Deseret News |date=2008-09-27 |accessdate=2008-10-08] The temple will be built in Antiguo Cuscatlán, an affluent district southwest of San Salvador. The San Salvador volcano will provide a beautiful background for the temple grounds that will surround the three-story building.
