Marko Jesic (born 7 August 1989 in Fairfield, New South Wales) is a football (soccer) striker who currently plays for A-League outfit the Newcastle United Jets.

Club career

Jesic playing for the Newcastle Jets

Jesic grew up on the streets of Bossley Park in Sydney's south west and was promoted to the Newcastle Jets A-League squad after playing in the youth league. Jesic is a graduate from the Australian Institute of Sport. His brother is his biggest supporter who has helped him through the two knee reconstructions that he has faced over the last few years. His brother donated a tendon in order to help Jesic's recovery from injury.

On 6 October 2008 he made his A-League debut for the Newcastle Jets as a substitute. Marko scored his first goal for the Jets in Newcastle's 1-0 win over Melbourne Victory on the 18 October 2008 in the 86th minute.[1][2]

Jesic has had a cruel run with the anterior cruciate ligament in both of his knees. He tore his right knee's ACL for the second time in his career, during the Boxing Day clash with the Central Coast Mariners, in 2008. He needed 6 months rehabilitation and missed out on the Jets' ACL campaign in 2009.[3]
