Chris Widing

Chris Widing

Chris Widing was born in October 1984 in Valencia, California. He lived there until him and his family moved to Georgia in 1990. He has two brothers. The middle brother, Steve Widing was born in September 1987. The youngest brother, Tim Widing, was born in February 1995. Chris Widing is 6-1, 200 pounds, and throws and hits lefthanded.

When he moved to Georgia he went to East Paulding Middle School and played on the football team as a starting quarterback. When he came up to High School, he played on the football team for one year as a backup quarterback and decided not to play anymore, he also played on the baseball team as a starting pitcher, first baseman, and leftfielder for his full four years at EPHS.

After his senior of high school he was drafted by the Atlanta Braves in the 48th round in the junior draft, but decided to go to college at Young Harris Junior College. He started the first year, redshirted the second because he had to have tommy john surgery on his throwing elbow, and played the third year. He then moved up to Charleston Southern University and pitched out of the bullpen for two years. He majored in kinesiology at Charleston Southern.

After college he went back to Young Harris to coach. He has currently been the pitching coach at Young Harris for two years under head coach Rick Robinson.

This is important because Chris Widing is an up-and-coming coach in college baseball and could become one of the greatest college baseball coached in the history of the college game.
