DMS or the Department of Management Studies is the postgraduate management programme of IIT Delhi, the premier education of technical education in India.The entry is based on scores obtained in JMET exam , thus swiping off the ala de creme of the best management brains available in the country.
History
The Department of Management Studies is a result of the evolutionary process of growthfrom an idea floated in 1963. What was then a seed gradually came to life. Through 1974, 1975, various expert committees worked to launch the first ever postgraduate management programme in 1976. Prof. Sudhir Kakar was the first coordinator of this programme. In 1993 the Management Area acquired the status of a statutory Department of IIT(D) with Prof.Vinayshil Gautam as the first Head. IIT(D) was the first IIT to have a regular Department focused on 'Management Studies'. In 1997 the postgraduate programme in Management was formally christened an MBA programme.
