Wedgie

Wedgie

A wedgie (also known as a "snuggie" or "gotch pull") is having one's underwear or other garments "wedged" between the buttocks. This can occur naturally, due to tight garments or physical activity; this is referred to as the underwear "riding up". It can also be performed as a prank or as a form of bullying; this is referred to as "giving (a person) a wedgie".Wedgies, when performed by bullies, can cause incredible pain due to the position of the underpants. [ [http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/wedgie "wedgie".] The American Heritage Dictionary of the English Language, Fourth Edition. Houghton Mifflin Company, 2004. Accessed 30 November 2007 via Dictionary.com.] Wedgies are commonly seen in popular culture for example on the popular American animated TV show "The Simpsons" and in "Dilbert" comics

Types of wedgie

*The Melvin is a variant of the wedgie in which the victim's underwear is pulled up from the front. [ [http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?file=/g/a/2007/01/04/gwyneth.DTL&type=printable Gwyneth And 'The Atomic Wedgie' / The attempt to prove the actress wrong after she slams American dinner party chatter is beyond a disaster ] ] This wedgie was demonstrated in the 2001 movie "Zoolander" where Ben Stiller (as Derek Zoolander) tries to win a modeling competition by removing his underwear without removing his trousers. He fails, and in the process gives himself a Melvin.
* The atomic wedgie entails hoisting the rear waistband of the receiver's underwear up and over their head. When executed from the front, this procedure is known as the atomic melvin. Besides the nutblaster wedgie, the atomic melvin is the most painful type of wedgie for men. [http://books.google.com/books?id=nFp0PL2kGLwC&pg=PA72&dq=wedgie&sig=CujNMTm4WhP7YUTWVvR6EdKm8qs] This is demonstrated in the animated show "" where the main hero used "atomic wedgies" as a weapon against his enemies, especially on Police Lt. Kellaway and his partner Doyle. This was taken from a scene in the movie where he did it to a gang leader.
*The hanging wedgie is a variant in which the victim is hung from his underwear, elevated above the ground.
