Tagmar

Tagmar

Born in 1991 with the honorary title of "1st Brazilian RPG", Tagmar, then published by the GSA was the first Brazilian product to a market that still would be formed. Tagmar was a typical RPG from the beginning of the 90s, but had a series of news is that the principal was to have everything that an RPG needed in a single book, rules, environment, magic, creatures and an adventure ready. At the time, the RPG were imported and it was necessary to have several books to play them.With an ambience based on the books of J.R.R Tolkien has been accused unjustly of being based on the D&D especially the Dragão Brasil Magazine at the time edited by Marcelo Cassaro, but in fact it was a very different system. Due to various characteristics, including the price, availability and new ideas, such as the unprecedented concept of Energy heroic; in a short time, the Tagmar became a success, bringing together a large number of fans.

This success lasted until nearly the end of the 90s, when in 1997 the publisher GSA closed. Without a publisher to continue the Tagmar remained stagnant.

The Renaissance

In September 2004, the authors of the RPG Tagmar met, in a historic decision, decided to release the commercial rights of the RPG, since it was not for profit ... With this resolution in hand, a group of people met and decided to create a new version of Tagmar ... Thus was born the Project Tagma 2.

This project was created following the form of Open Gaming using a Creative Commons license. In this type of design products are created / developed through volunteer work and use a special license in which all material is generated from open license. Using this organization, the Tagmar 2 Project was designed with two main objectives:

* Create a new version of RPG Tagmar that is modern, updated and expanded.
* Creating an RPG-level professional who is 100% free (for non-commercial purposes) and can be downloaded from the Internet!

Tagmar was an excellent RPG at the beginning of the 90s, but unfortunately he did not follow the trend of other RPGs. At the beginning of the project was a major search that resulted in a work plan with many ideas to be developed. Among the main items to be worked out:

* Unable to create the character (long and with many tables based on lottery)

* Good ambiance, but small.

* Imbalances between the professions and races.

* Few options for characterization of the characters.

* Difficulty in understanding and using the system of combat.

* Little emphasis on roleplaying (interpretation) and the ambiance.

After a year of work the project finally came to an end of the first version with the release of Tagmar 2.0 in September 2005, which had as main focus of the update rules. In March 2006, was ready to version 2.1 which in addition to some more news at the rules, brings the long-awaited expanded ambiance, with the launch of the Book of Kingdoms. Currently the Tagmar is version 2.2 which was launched in July de2007 that brings increments for the professions of Bard and Tracker, an expanded and comprehensive review of the Book of creatures in addition to numerous improvements at the rules.
