Abdelkader Belliraj

Abdelkader Belliraj (b. 1957, Nador) is a Moroccan-Belgian citizen accused standing trial in Morocco (as of 2008) for terrorism and murder.

Inspired by the 1979 Iranian Revolution, Belliraj took an interest in radical principles, eventually meeting personally with Ayatollah Khomeini in 1981. Belliraj then committed a series of murders in 1986-1989, with claims of moral and political motives. In the 1990s, Belliraj became involved with international criminal and terrorist networks, working as a "money man." At some point in the 1990s, Belliraj became an informant for a Belgian intelligence agency, while still continuing his work with criminal organizations, even having dinner with Osama bin Laden less than two weeks before the September 11th attacks. Following the attacks, Belliraj turned over large amounts of information regarding Al Qaeda to Belgian authorities. Belliraj and nearly 50 others were arrested in Morocco on 18 February 2008, accused of stockpiling weapons for terrorist attacks. Belliraj denied the charges, claiming that the weapons were cached in the 1990s, intended to support Islamic radicals in Algeria. Individual murders

Belliraj allegedly confessed to six murders committed in Europe between 1986 and 1989, but later denied the murders during his 2008 trial.

*Raoul Schouppe, a Flemish grover, allegedly because Belliraj believed him to be Jewish
*Marcel Bille, allegedly because Bille made a homosexual pass at Belliraj
*Abdullah Ah-Adhal El Hasi, imam of the Grand Mosque in Brussels, and El Hasi's assistant, for objecting to Ayatollah Khomeini's fatwa against Salman Rushdie
*Samir Gahez Rasoul, chauffeur for the Saudi Arabian ambassador to Belgium
