Publib

PUBLIB is an electronic discussion list that was founded in December, 1992 for the purpose of allowing public librarians and those interested in public libraries to discuss library-related issues. Sara Weissman and Karen G. Schneider currently voluntarily manage the list.

PUBLIB discussions range from humorous anecdotes and job listings to library ethics and problem solving (Hill 2005, p. 34).

Authors in the field of library and information science occasionally tap PUBLIB as a resource. One such author described PUBLIB as "a good cross-section of librarians engaged in public services, administration, technical support, and related responsibilities." (Sager 2000, p. 73).
