Wincey Willis

Wincey Willis

Wincey Willis (born Gateshead, Tyne and Wear, 8 August 1948) is a British broadcaster who found television success in the 1980s.

She was born Florence Winsome Dimmock, but dropped her first name and contracted the middle name to "Wincey". When she married Malcolm Willis, the names proved so harmonious that she continued to use the surname "Willis" even after they divorced.

Wincey's first job as a radio presenter was working with Les Ross on a successful Saturday morning programme at Radio Tees. She became famous as a weather presenter on TV-am, before adjudicating on the game show "Treasure Hunt". She is now a writer, public speaker and conservationist, and presents a weekly show on BBC Coventry & Warwickshire.

Although well known for her TV-am weather forecasts she is most proud of her work as a writer and as presenter of television programmes about animals, notably "Animal Watch" on TV-am and the Granada TV series "Wincey’s Pets".
